mic'ing the amp 101

I believe the 57 can get a bit more low end from proximity effect. Time to plunk down $100 for a AKGp2. Full range and pretty flat response.
Thanks guys! This is a one time outdoor event for a good local cause and I really do want to be part of it.
I kinda hate to drop $99 for one outdoor show, but I do want to have it sound as good as it can. I might just go for the P2. I see the frequency response. So much better. I still have plenty of time to decide.
It is a local benefit, and not a paying gig, but I still want to put out the best sound I can. There will be a lot of people there who have never heard what I do. I am ordering the AKG P2. I appreciate the help making the decision.
I will do that, but the benefit isn't until May 16th. I'm trying to not wait until the last minute to be ready.
drummer in my band has an audix d6, it sounds good. It must be heavily eq'd because you cannot make that thing feed back. It's creepy. One of my favorite bass sounds was one I recorded at home through a little swr combo mic'd with a large diaphragm condenser, probably audio technica 3035. I spent maybe thirty minutes trying different mic positions, angles, etc, and listening back to recorded samples. I was really surprised how much difference little changes in mic placement made.
I have the D4, same body as the D6, same freq response, but without the hyped high/low end. Great mic, easy to place. It has a super tight hyper cardioid pattern, so it picks up ONLY what I point it at, which is sweet.
This is going to be one of the biggest local outdoor music events ever. The guy backing the whole thing owns the biggest club in the town I live in. Mostly I play the smaller places. I am still figuring The AKG P2 is a good investment because I might need to do more micing in the near future. It is a very, very short drive to Branson from where I live and there a several small clubs that like to hire little local bands. The mic came with high recommendations from a few good TBers. It should be here later this week. After the show, I will post my experience with it.

I looked up pictures and I see exactly what you mean. $1.95 for the adapter at B&H Photo and it is on its way already. Thank you for the heads-up!
I see the RE20 mentioned a lot. It is $450 retail. Does anyone have any comments about the RE320 versus the RE20? $300 retail on that one.
