Micro POG MOD?

Wait a minute, how would you know the signal passes through the pots? Are signals like water-cooled computers, where you can see the fluids?

Just a guess here, but you could probably patch in (assuming you know how to follow a PCB and trace the ground), and use a separate 1/4" jack to plug into. Current and voltage will unquestionably show up with a multimeter test, so that's useless for this case.

But does an audio signal even necessarily have to pass through the pot in a digital circuit? That's a question I don't know the answer to for certain.

This is probably the second thread in a row where my lack of knowledge in digital circuitry is showing. I know enough to fix some of my gear, and barely enough to mod them. :D
 
If the pots are "regular" analog pots then they regulate voltage in an analog part of the circuit, and if the signal passes through them it can be tested (listened to) using simple analog diagnostic tools. Audio signal is one of the types of voltage that may be regulated with a pot, but not every pot has audio running through it.

However if they are "rotary encoders" -digital pots- then they cannot be tested/listened to in that way. Even if the pots are not digital though, it is doubtful that +1 is passing by itself through one dedicated pot and -1 by itself through another. That would be the only circumstance in which the pots would even enter the picture.

What are this "rotary encoders"? Could i replace a pot with a volume pedal and be assured it will work (i thought all pots were simply adjustable resistors. i have not heard of rotary encoders before)
 
I love my Micro POG, but I am really disappointed with the way they wired the outputs.
I would much rather had them the way other effects of this type are wired:
Main Out= mixed signal when used alone/ or dry only when used with...
Effect Out= effected signal only and silenced completely when pedal is off.

I've heard this complaint frequently. However, using the M-POG as it is in your context requires only a mute switch, whereas if you designed the M-POG, i'd have to use an A/B/Y pedal to work in my context (the way the M-POG was designed).

Since a mute switch is arguably cheaper and easier to put into a chain than a ABY pedal, i'm happy they designed it this way. And seriously, are you trying to jack my mod thread? :(
