Depends on which mids. I do a boost or cut & sweep with my single channel para EQ.

With my URB I usually cut mids in the 800-1000hz range to control nasality. Other than that I usually have all EQ flat, never been much of a tweaker. The tone pots on my BGs are the most important EQ for me.
I generally run my amp flat and boost my mids as needed. I use a Lakland 5594 with the blend set slightly to the bridge and the coil tap set to the forward position. A little boosted mids and I'm good to go. I've been using that setting for going on 18 years!
No. I boost the mids because I like the way it sounds. That might be over-simplified. But, it is the way I've always done it and I've never had difficulty cutting through the mix. When you boost your mids, is it to cut through the mix?
Thanks Pacman. Forgive my lack of common sense. This has nothing to do with Technique. Moved to live sound.
I read a lot about people cutting or boosting the mids but I never see great explanations. What do you guys think the benefits are to either?
