Mid cut with EHX BBM problem....

1. A post eq will do nothing. Try a pre eq.
2. Big Muffs cut mids. Clones exist that offer mid control.

+1 - That muff scoop always annoyed me as well. Now I have a Musket v2 and the amount of control it gives you is just amazing.
thats why i sold mine. sounds great in the bedroom, gets lost in a mix. typical of muffs. try the fuzzrocious grey stache or the blackout effectors musket (v1 flat mids) (v2 can boost mids) if you want a slammin muff with mid presence.
If you've got a mid-heavy bass and a mid-heavy rig, it's REALLY not much of a problem. The mid-scoop is exactly the reason why muffs were the preferred fuzzes for bass for decades.
Now, if you favor the bridge pickup on a jazz bass and play through a "modrin full-range" rig with a contoured EQ, then you;re right - you'll be lost in the mix.

well don't get me wrong - I sold mine, but my main fuzz is still a muff variant (and not one of those with a mid-boost). I do miss it though, and will surely pick one up.
I just wanted to provide some historical perspective. The muff is an old design, made for use with old school, mid-heavy tube amps.
Also, I don't necessarily buy the "you need mids to cut through the mix" - it really depends on too many factors. Me, I like clean headroom for audibility.

what kind of amp are you using? Also, have you tried boosting mids BEFORE the muff?

Personally, I'm not sure that ANY pedal distortion will sound great thru an Eden rig. I find that pedal distortion usually sounds ugly, harsh and fizzy (not in a good way) through hi-fi solid state rigs. But that's me getting into my personal taste.
Played a gig last night with the BBM into a solid state Trace head and Mesa cab with the tweeter turned off. Sounded sweet, most definitely not lost in the mix, it dominated it. But then again I run a BB Preamp into the BBM set to dry mode and modded to tame the volume boost.
I was screwing around with my friend's Swollen Pickle a few nights ago and although it's kind of a Muff-type pedal, you can dial the mids back in and the saturation is insane! Great pedal for bass!
indeed, had the same problem. solved since I use a GK rig.. always got lost in the mix with my eden. it's perfect at home or to play in not-loud band..

this is true because most OD pedals boost the mids with increased gain (sort of the point of simulating a tube amp, which is the point of an OD) - so your mids are boosted going into the muff, and this is balanced by the scoop
where you need emphasis to fit in the mix depends on a lot of factors. If you're using a hi-fi amp that is designed NOT to put out "farty"/honky mids (like say, an Eden or SWR), you really shouldn't be blaming a distortion pedal for absent mids, now should you?
Listen to this riff and tell me the scooped mids of the muff make the bass hard to hear in the mix. It's not a BBM, but believe me, other muffs are no less scooped.

I was having the same problem with my BBM, and due to different rehearsal studios and live backlines provided by the venue, I rarely play through my own amp (I own a Yorkville XS800H through and 8X8 cab ... typically provided with GK or Eden gear which have always delivered what I need as well).
Once I accidently kept my Way Huge Pork Loin on (which is dialed to provide just a touch of overdrive), and it turned out to be magic to my ears with the BBM ... nice to have that tone in just one pedal (eg. Musket), but I'm hooked with what I have now.
For context, a Fender MIA Jazz with both pickups on full and tone knob about 80% clockwise (usually I have the volume for both at about 75% so there's a straight volume boost happening there as well, but it's mainly the mids added from the Pork Loin that is allowing the tone to cut through).
