"Mid-life Crisis" Car Purchase

Mid life epiphany is often mistaken for mid life crisis. It's more of a "Hey my life is halfway gone and all I'm doing is running in a rat wheel" moment, contrasted with trying to pretend you are still a kid, the crisis variety.
It's what led a lot of us back to playing after many years away. It did me. It wasn't a crisis it was an awakening.

And otoh some of us never gave the hot rods up, even after getting married and raising a family. I've had my Camaro for 32 years and the Blazer & ElCamino for 25 years. In between that I've built, bought and sold more cars/trucks than I can remember.

The Jaguar XF (used , of course) is a lovely sport luxury car, The Challenger is equally appealing, but both have ridiculously high insurance, so there's that. Probably end up with an Enclave, my folks have one and its a nice vehicle with lots of room which is something we've been needing since the truck got totaled.

I also had my eye on a totally bitchin 67 custom chevy stationwagon, bagged all around and a fresh 454 crate motor, uber cool stance with the air ride, I would totally rock that

This is what I got.

Ah ! In addition to GAS there is CAS

Without a doubt and I'm guilty as charged on both counts.

Between the recent SX Basses I've bought here in the TB classifieds, I also just added a free 2001 Explorer to the madness..... this one should be a quick flip for some decent $$.

Ironically, the OP started this thread on my 55th birthday. Anyway, as soon as the weather breaks (this morning it's 6 degrees with several inches of snow on the ground) my garage will become home to either a blue with white rally stripes 2017 Camaro SS convertible or a 50th Anniversary Camaro SS convertible. Yup, that's gonna happen. Neither car is suitable for getting my gear to a gig, but so what.

Bumping this thread to announce that I just signed a deal on a Camaro Fifty Convertible this afternoon. Picking it up Monday. Yay me!!! Already ordered the personalized plate. Very simple.... 50 SS

Early last December, I finally got sick of looking at tiny cars that would fit in the garage space that the Beetle lived in. They were mostly ugly; weird looking; or, ugly and weird looking. A lot of them could barely get out of their own way; and every one that I did like, I just couldn't get in and out of. (Don't laugh: your day is coming...) So, I moved everything out of the garage; skootched everything around, and... Voila! The bikes did fit where the Beetle was parked. Kinda cramped, but I can get 2 of them out with no trouble. The crotch rocket? Well, that's gonna take about 10 minutes or so. I can live with that, I guess. So, I went to the nearest Nissan dealer and bought this; 2016 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. Fits nicely where the bikes used to live. And, it'll tow the bike trailer just fine, too...

Heck yeah. You can be a responsible adult and have fun at the same time.
