I bought a Mighty Mite neck for my MIM P bass thinking it was a direct replacement. When I tried to put it in today, it didn't fit. the neck is too wide for the joint. So my question is how do I go about fixing this? I'm completly newb at this stuff. I asked the local shop and they said they would charge me $150. **** that...

Well, if you don't know how to fix it, or have not done much wood work before, maybe it is best to let a shop do this? I'd hate for you to get some advice here, then attempt to do the mod yourself and ruin the body or the neck....

I just went thru this with a Mighty Mite P neck a Standard jazz body. I used a electric hand sander to reshape the neck heel. I had to remove a little from the sides and slighty adjust the radius of the heel. It took about an hour going slow. You could easily to it with sanding block and some time. Just make sure the neck lines up properly when you mount it.

Is it true Mighty Mite necks will perfectly fit Squire affinity basses?

Mine fit my affinity jazz like a charm. nice tight fit. great end result. the neck, new tuners, audere preamp, noiseless pickups, gotoh bridge = my favorite bass to play

needed a tech to file down the nut as it was too tall and giving me intonation problems, but that would have been a problem on any bass it was mounted too.

I had the same problem when I was puting a MM P-bass neck on my Jazz Bass. The solution? I shaved it a little with my router. I'm sure you could do it with a Dremmel tool or a chisel though.

I did exactly the same thing, the p bass neck didn't fit in the Jazz neck pocket -but it was close-it wasn"t like i had to take too much off for it to fit.
