Mighty Mite vs. Allparts necks

I searched and couldn't find a definitive pros/cons post comparing the two necks. I have an Allparts jazz neck with a maple board that I put on a P bass build, and I love it.

A friend gave me a Squier jazz with a warped neck, so I'm in the market. I like the fact that the Mighty Mite comes finished with a nut for less than the raw Allparts neck. I enjoyed shaping the bone nut and finishing the neck in Tru Oil on my other build, but I'm not against cutting a few corners on this one. Also doing my first refin, so this baby may be coming out rough anyway.

Is the time/money savings of going Mighty Mite vs. Allparts penny wise and pound foolish? Or will I end up with a quality neck? Or should I cough up the extra dough and time to get the Allparts?

I would not put a $400 neck on a $300 bass because, having spent $700, you still end up with a $300 bass.

I would think a mighty mite would be a better match for squier, budget-wise.

Me neither. Unfinished allparts necks are about $150 shipped (I already have the oil); finished Might Mites are 100/110.

And the loaded body was given to me as “junk” because the neck was twisted.

Ive never had the opportunity to play an Allparts. A few years back I bought a MM through CEG Hardtails. They do a crown and level job/take care of any fret edges/etc... I thought it was a great neck. Fast, straight and stable. The only reason I parted with it was because I picked up a Fender RW neck that better matched the light relic on the body its mated to.

i have a J with an allparts neck and a PJ with a mighty mite neck (they are both fretless), and they are both: dependable/stable, adjustable as expected and playable. the allparts neck has an ebony fingerboard. mighty mite has ebonol. FWIW: the allparts fretless had to be re-ordered (sent back) twice to get the best neck. the mighty mite fingerboard had to be 'tweaked' to get a great fb.

no differences on mine = they are both great necks.

good luck with your decision(s)!

Mighty Mite necks are probably the best bang for buck but you might need to do some fret dressing. All Parts has better fretwork and overall better build.
If you're on a budget and can do fretwork I'd go with Mighty Mite. You may luck out and it might play fine without a fret dressing.
Also, I picked up a 50.00 (with tuners) cheap neck on eBay and it turned out to be really good. You can always take a gamble there.

i've recently been in the "replacement parts world"

i found, especially with necks, that basically they're all quality. in many ways you just cant go wrong.

however -

warmoth necks are some of the best i've ever played. if you take care in the setup and all that, warmoth parts make world class basses.

Used both, and while I will say there is nothing wrong with Mighty Mite the quality of the Allparts one is definitely a notch above. I got an unfinished Mighty Mite and a finished Allparts, so factor that in, but even so I still think the Allparts is a better neck. It was worth the extra $$$ to me but YMMV.

In my experience I find Warmoth necks to be of excellent quality but they don't sound or play like a Fender neck. I've only ever had ones with the steel reinforcement rods. One was maple / ebony, the other was maple / maple.
Perhaps graphite rods make them more similar to the Fender sound / feel.

Mighty Mite feel like MIM Fender / some Squier necks and are very good quality.

Allparts feel more like MIJ / MIA vintage necks, are excellent quality and get my vote every time these days as I like the vintage Fender vibe.

My next project will be a Warmoth roasted ash P body with an Allparts maple / rosewood P neck.
