Mike Lull 2013 "Pipeline" Orders

I made the switch back to 4-string several months ago. I've been waiting for the novelty to wear off, waiting for me to come to my senses... but every day, my Lull P4 puts a huge smile on my face. So much so that I just sold my Lull M5V this past weekend. I couldn't get myself to like the feel of that neck again, and I needed some moh-nay... sooooo that bass is headed to it's new home.
I'm never going to sell King Koa (my 5-string Roscoe), but I am having serious thoughts about selling my 5-string fretless Roscoe. I want to get a Lull 4-string fretless, and I simply don't need 2 fretless basses. I'm taking this selling stuff slow because I don't want to have any regrets about it. If I start thinking "I should sell this bass", and then if I continue to have those thoughts 2-3 months later... then it'll be time to sell.

I know. I use my B string, but often just as a fingering option. I play below E maybe a couple times a week. It sounds great but it isn't a "deal breaker" by any means. Especially on a group with 2 keyboard players who stay out of my way, but could easily fill the sonic space if I wasn't for a couple notes.
Still very tempted to get a fretted 4 again and see how it goes. Not in a big hurry to sell my one and only Roscoe.
Ha ha. How do you think I felt when you posted those Lull pictures? Bastard. Love my Bora Bora though!
My Roscoe's will stay with me, but that red fretless Lull sure looks nice!

I'm pretty addicted to 5/6 string basses...but as someone who will only consider 34" scale basses, being into 4 stringers would sure make purchasing Lull's easier! That said...if that red V5-34" scale ash/maple was alder/rosewood...it'd already be at my home! (That ash/maple one still has me salivating though... 
)

My wife seems to prefer the look of the candy red with block inlays. She likes inlays. Be fun to try it, but I don't think I could buy it without selling my Roscoe. Not sure I want to do that yet - even though I don't use the B string much. It's such a sweet bass. I've had it for a couple years now though so I suppose it's getting to be that time again.
Hey Greg...when I order my next one like next spring probably.... Can you get a v4 with the vintage neck and big singles and a preamp? Or does that have to be the m4v model? Still trying to decide if I want a preamp! But I am pretty sure I want big singles.
Making a passive Lull model active can be done, but it is an upcharge: $600 List ($450 Street) gets you the extra routing & wiring and the preamp itself (any of the Bartolini or Aguilar stuff). Nordstrand preamps can be had, too, but they add an extra $200 List.
When the time comes, we can price it out as an M4V and as a V4 to see which comes out better for you.

Below is a shot of an M5V that Mike just finished assembling and setting up today. The bass should be here @ Rocket in about a week!
Oh, and I also just added another M5V to my order pipeline, so I should see this bad boy in about 3-4 months. I've been wanting to get that satin black color in here for quite a while, I just think it looks too cool for school!

Maybe I should put a 2nd Roscoe on the back burner and think about a Lull. Spread the wealth a bit so to speak. I have my 5 string needs covered with my Roscoe CS+ 5. I also wonder if I "gave up" the 5 string for a while if I'd REALLY miss it.
I know a few people who have "gone back" to 4 and really like it. I did that a while back but gave in and got a 5 string again. Part of me wants to just keep it simple with a 4, part of me wants to try the "restrictions/simplification" of a 4 string.
I don't know what I should do. I do know when I noodle at the store I like the feel of a small, quick, 4 string neck.
