Mike Lull 2013 "Pipeline" Orders

I had a little fun with my Lull P4 this weekend! The sound quality is lousy, sorry about that. I was multi-track recording on the mixing board as I shot this video, but the audio data got corrupted somehow. Wah.

We had even better success with promo materials for the Howlin' Mudbellies this past weekend! I was able to capture some OK quality video and some excellent multi-track audio.

It's like when Ricky Minor is the music director of a show, the bass sound is so much better. Sounds great, as usual, Greg!

Sounds great, Gregg. That is really a classic P bass sound! What strings do you have on that bass?
Thanks! Those are La Bella low tension flats, the LTF-4A set.
I've got those strings on most of my basses at this point, I really dig them. Great tone, they feel great to my fingertips, and the low tension lets me play fluidly.
P basses have become the big thing for me the past few years, and Fiesta Red on Alder/Rosewood is one of my favorite flavors!
This new one from Mike Lull is quite light (just 7.4 lbs), and it has a J neck profile (1.5" nut width). The pickup is Mike's usual choice for a P: Lindy Fralin

I'm in the process of becoming a dealer for Honey Badger pickups, and they were kind enough to send me a P pickup to try. I put it in my personal Lull P4 and shot a before & after video, so you can hear the difference between a Lindy Fralin P pickup and a Honey Badger P pickup with everything else in the signal chain remaining constant: my hands, La Bella low-tension flats, Lull P4 bass, Bergantino B|Amp & HT-112ER cabs, Lava cables...

Old meets new! This bass was a special order for Ken in Charlottesville. It's got a UV4 J neck (so 20 frets, 1.5" nut) sporting Lollipop tuners - that's the old part. Then for the new part, it's got Mike's P4 body with an active EMG P Pickup and an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp. Pretty cool!

Thread resurrection!
Seen this a few times on YT and just stumbled on it here. I prefer the Fralins but both pickups sound fantastic. I dont suppose you remember what mic you were using?
I've gotten much more into mixing in recent years, and I imagine I could make both pickups sound pretty much identical at this point. Any differences that are there are fairly subtle, they're both great pickups.
I'm guessing the mic is a Peluso CEMC6, but that's just a guess. Sorry I forgot to mention that detail in the video!

It's not like I talked to Mike more than a handful of times, and I only met him vis-a-vis a couple of times. But it's sad to know he's not up there still doing his thing - and a just a phone call away if we need him. I'm sure the stalwart folks of the business he created will carry on valiantly.
I'm hoping Lull guitars will make a comeback on the retail scene. Even before we tragically lost Mike, they had all but disappeared from retailers. Such is the case with many boutique builders, I guess.

Whoa! Here's a gorgeous JT4 in Mary Kay that Spencer Lull and crew just completed for @BIGEJ2. The bass is such a sexy specimen!
In case it's not clear, the Maple neck and headstock are also painted gloss Mary Kay to match. Nice touch!

Just FYI - that's a Hipshot B-style bridge per Brad's request. It would normally be an A-style, unless you request otherwise.
