Mind Blowing NBD!!!

...and whether a bass "looks metal" or not depends largely on the player, more than the bass. :) Be original, make that thing the most metal bass anyone's ever seen or heard!

Sweet bass. Not to dis anyone in any way over their choice of inexpensive basses, but although it's true that a great player can make any bass sound good, for the vast majority of us, a really good bass, set up well makes it easier to play and sound good. Just my 2 cents, but I want the bass and amp to do as much of the work as possible.

I kind of agree - a really nice playable bass certainly makes it easier to get better!

Stunningly gorgeous bass. AND - this is really the only bass you will ever REALLY need. Just stay away from the GAS-inducing threads here, play it and be happy. It's awesome.

In my experience - the real difference between the lower cost basses and the higher end is, in the end, the playability. My 2 MIA Ps are at the top end of playability with super low, buzz-free action and a comfortable neck with nicely dressed frets. This is what you pay for.

I've played a few of these models at GC. IMHO, these are the nicest Precisions available today. I was pretty close to buying one on several occasions. I've regretted not coming home with it each time. The matching Strat is also really nice.

I used to despise Fenders for almost no reason other than their size and headstock. I went to GC with my girlfriend and I was trying out different basses. I saw an American Jazz and I thought eh give it a try, see what the hoopla is about. Mind blowing. I had several basses in mind that I wanted and they all flew out the window when I played the Fender. My girlfriend poked fun at me because just minutes before I had been bashing on Fender and then she saw the change come over me haha

+1
I am not one of those "good" players that can make anything sound fantastic, I need all the help I can get.
Very pretty bass. Saw one of those honeybursts in person at a Guitar Center and I thoght it was the best looking bass in the store.

Sorry up front for the long winded post, but I gotta tell someone.

So I started playing bass about 7 months ago because my brothers band needed a bass player. I had played guitar most of my life so I felt I could make the transition. I had always had, and enjoyed, "good value" guitars (epiphone, LTD, cheap Ibanez) so when I went looking for a bass I ended up gravitating to that range of bass. My first bass was a ltd fb-204 ($399) and I loved it.
Shortly after starting to play I found talk bass. Not a bad thing but you people cause GAS like nobody's business. Anyway I got my tax refund and said "I need another bass." Looked online and found the ltd stream which looks amazing and is different enough from my other bass that I decided I needed it. Went to my local GC and got to play one, that was it I was sold. Paid the $545 after tax and they ordered me one in the color I wanted.
WELL... my brother was with me and he was trying out guitars, and pedals, and what have you. I was playing with the basses. I played every thunderbird (which I hated) LTD, Ibanez... metal... I like metal music, I want my bass to look metal. My brother comes over and tells me to play this one bass because he thinks it looks good. It's a Fender. I had never played a Fender bass. I had a mexican't strat once that put a bad taste in my mouth. I started playing and HOLY MOTHER!!! What is this magical contraption?
I have always thought "well they are all guitars. I can play a $300 epiphone as well as he is playing his 3k Gipson." NOPE NOPE NOPE. The LTDs were not in the same ballpark as this thing. Not the same league. Not even the same game. Went to the counter and told them never mind about the stream I want this. Put it on layaway, took my original bass up there and traded it in. So $500 out of pocket and my original bass got me an American Fender Honeyburst P-Bass and I couldn't be more thrilled. It looks amazing and plays even better. I am over the freaking moon. By far the finest instrument I've ever owned.

I just got that same bass. I'm just as blown away by it. Also my first P-bass. Such a solid tone, it's pretty.. feels great to play. Nice bass man.
