Mini Rigs of Doom Four

Ok... I'll play. It's a bit heavy but I can manage it with one hand. Bag over the shoulder bass case and stand in the other hand.

shuttle 9.0 & 8ohm 12PL. no problem being heard with a loud drummer and a crunchy guitar 4x12 half stack.

1 or 2 basses in a mono single or double on back, shuttle in laptop bag on one shoulder, 14"x14"-ish pedalboard in bag on other shoulder, cab in one hand = one trip.

yeah cool right , it's a Gator . Just got it from Sweetwater . I had the SWR amp and have been using it on / off . I was just about to sell /trade it when I finally got to use it for real and it rocked big time so I gave it a nice new home . It's a killer little amp actually so glad I held on to it . The Summit just came in from one of the lads here and I got the Flite a while back from a TB'er . Pretty simple really but the little stack pumps .

Way cool! How much does the Gator rack weigh? Looks like a close enough fit for my DIY 1/2 rack stack to at least consider, although ideally I'd like a little more rackable depth. I was kind of resigned to having to roll my own case, but...Link Removed

probably about 25 lb. empty give or take . Yeah if you can get it smaller that would be sweet , had it been a 2space I would have nabbed it but it's tight in there the units could hit each other if there are screws sticking out on the bottom or the unit is a little taller . I was able to get them all in there and could put another tray for pedals and what not and still may but this seemed like a good way to go .

Thanks, I now see that shipping weight is ~22 lbs, so the rack itself is probably actually 20 or so. Looks really good for your application, but my power amp is 10 inches deep, and using 20 pounds of rack to hold 15 lbs of gear wasn't quite what I had in mind when I built the 1/2 rack modules. Link Removed Might just do it anyway though. My modules are each 2RU high but the feet do extend beyond the bottoms a little, so I'd need to take the feet off at least the top one, but all in all it's pretty tempting. If you haven't seen my many postings, here are the pieces in question:

The bottom box is a 700 watter.

Those are beauties ! Yeah I can dig it fab one up , something in Blue Kevlar maybe ? So that case says
Int Depth Lid to Lid 12.78"

and the trays are
  • Overall width of 10.39" by 8" overall depth
perhaps it will just make it .

Dang, guess I'll have to stick with the hummingbird plan. I wouldn't need the trays, since I left room for simple rack ears made from standard 1" by 1/8" aluminum bar stock. May end up having to go custom, but I really appreciate the feedback.

:) you bet . So are those standard wide ? will they fit side by side in a standard rack ?

Yep, side by side in the newer 2RU SKB shallow EFX rack with full front and back lids that I already have would work perfectly, as that's what I had in mind originally when I did the front panel designs. I made it so the front panel sides would be touching, with a 1" plate in the middle behind them bolted through the rack handle holes, and a 1" plate on each end drilled to standard rack mounting centers. Home Depot easy. The idea was to do a tube preamp in this format too, and maybe a compressor or some other processor. Mix and match.
