Thanks for coming out - was fun to meet you all.

My apologies as someone has asked to play my Cirrus USA against the Cirrus BXP - unfortunately I didn't let folks know they were in the corner.

There were a few that had asked to play the Ashbory.

If you wanted a strobe intonation and missed it, please PM me.

Vocal Coach - After about 80% of people left, we hung out for a bit the discussion of singing and playing came up. I committed to passing along the name of the lady who's been working with me (singing is the project of the year)... she does have some cool how to stuff on her site Link Removed Cant beat her private in your home lessons - she is good and a great value - doesn't dork around with trying to impress you or banter - it's all about making you better.

I had a lot of fun. In retrospect, bringing the drumset wasn't a great idea. Oh well. I apologize for not catching names as well as I should have. Tim, JRO and Ed Butler are the only ones I caught for sure, I think it was Eathan's Portabass head that got smoked. I hope to check whether my Shuttle 6.0 also took damage tonight.

Thanks to Tim for hosting, Ed for providing that awesome 2x15 rig, JRO for bringing the only Wal any of us are likely to ever touch and every one for showing up. I look forward to doing it again.

Thanks for hosting MNAirHead. I had a good time and it was great to hear all the different setups. Thanks to Ed for the BIG rig he brought and to everyone for all cool basses. Next time we ought to have a clinic on setups or technique and a guitar.

On another note - My wife went to a rummage sale in Lake Elmo and there is a guy with a Turner Renaissance fretless for sale. He has it listed for $900 but will probably take offers. Sweet bass for a good price. He also has a Fostex MR-8 for $50 if anyone wants a recording device cheap. He has an ad on minneapolis.craigslist.org.

Clinic - this is a superior idea... I'm always amazed at some of the technique stuff that's out there.

Turner - dang you.. I now have to make a call..

Getting together - may be cool to figure out a way to post a TBer gig without getting the "no gigspam" note.

I had a great time too. Actually I wish I had set up closer to your drum kit -- it would have been cool to do more bass and drum improv if I hadn't been so far across the room. Maybe next time.

It was great meeting everyone and checking out all the cool instruments and gear.

I wish I could offer to host the next one, but I just don't have any place where we could do it. MNAirHead's place worked out great -- plenty of space and a good parking situation. Thanks again for hosting.

Sorry about the Turner. I know its not a Peavey but you'll have something cool for the next get together. Seriously though, you should have pointed out the Cirrus's. I heard good things about them.

Back to work now, I've got to sell a couple basses and search ebay for a Guyatone...

I think the drum set was a good idea. Its a good way to hear how stuff sounds with a kick and symbols clouding things up.
I really enjoyed the Berg 215 - that thing was smooth and clear up as high or down low as you could want - no need for a tweeter there. The shroeder was a cool cab too - not enough lows for me but it sure was small and loud!

I am defintely in love with Wals now...I've been listening to all the songs I know that have one haha. Maybe I'll settle for a filter pre in some other bass with humbuckers..:/

It was nice to meet all of you, thanks again to Tim for hosting us.

Thanks Tim for hosting. Great meeting all of ýou, and next time I hope to make it a bit earlier.
As much as everyone was drooling over the Wal, I think my all time favs were the 70's P and the Ric. (And to think I used to not like Rics?). And that 215 Berg killed! Too bad about the portabass. I wanted to hear that Schroeder pretty badly.
(Note: NOT gigspam--for those of you who were asking when they could "hear the Reggie Hamilton in a gig situation", you could come to the Uptown Bar on May 22nd around 9-9:30ish.)
Looking forward to the next one.

Howdy...

Sunday May 17th 10:30 a.m
Paid Fill In Needed

Anyone want to fill in for me - I'm going to be out of town.

Location = Near Hudson
Time = 10:30
Material = 5 Pop U2 Sounding Tunes (provided in advance on mp3 and charts)
Pay = $75

Now here's the rules...
1-You have to use my RollsPM351 direct box and headphones (no amp)
2-You have to make it to one 1hr practice
3-You have to do your homework
4-You have to be cool and have fun.

They're very cool guys.. types that you could take out for a beer (yes minister included). The guys are all pro trained (you don't have to be). They do not bible bang - they still are a church.

Preference to guys who made it to this week's get together.

If you've ever considered a church gig, let me know...

Tim

guess I'm a jive turkey, haven't been on in a while and completely missed it. :scowl: I usually have practices on wednesdays, but i can always pull the cancel card. Let's see if I can redeem myself by showing at the next one, hoping that there will be.

I sent you e-mails about my Dad and I being the first to build a Meyers Manx, in the upper midwest in 64. Thought you going to e-mail me about the get together. Guess you don't really want to talk to someone who may know as much as you do. Thanks. You seemed the type, even without meeting you.

Unfortuantely we didn't have a volunteer crew for coordinating the event.. NOBODY else stood forward and offered their space or to coordinate efforts.

I had one person offer to help keep folks informed as I have a busy life- he did a great job Kraigo (thanks).

It was delayed to warmer weather for you.. bantered around for at least a month... exact instructions on how to become notified... we checked this thread while guests were arriving. We got together to have fun, learn (and buy a new patriot).

I sincely believe that the reply received above is in poor taste and form.

Please subscribe to this thread if you are serious about showing up next time.

Tim
