Edit: I also love how many of us(in this thread, that is- myself included )misspell words as we complain about others' inability to pronounce words.

Here, we pronounce "orange" like "are-enj". Drive about 20 minutes north of me and it suddenly becomes "ore-enj" go figger...
Also does anyone here pronounce "theater/theatre" as "thee-ate-er"? I knew a few people who did that. ugh, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

In some parts of Louisiana, I know people who pronounce "orange" as one syllable "urnj".

My mother, raised in North Dakota, adopted Southern ways when she married my Louisiana born/bred step-dad, and eventually her speech changed. The one my grandmother used to make fun of when she called home was her pronunciation of "ruined", which usually ended up as "rurnt" (vs. the more dilineated roo-inned).
