Mispronounced words that make me crazy

I've used 'mine as well', but I think it was totally appropriate. Pointing to one of my 3 insane children, I'd say, 'He's mine. According to my also insane wife, the other two are mine as well.' If this bothers anyone I'll make a weak effort to stop.

Oh, thats perfectly fine. My quarrels are with people using "mine as well" in the place of "might as well."

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but a heap of Australians can't say 'Ask'. They say 'Arks'

Also instead of pronouncing 'H' kinda like 'aych', they say 'haych'... I hate that one.

Just a few that come to mind, but the list goes on & on.
Is there anyone else here bugged by this stuff?

I agree whole-heartedly and would like to extend this to anything that's supposed to be "es" mispronounced as "ex"

In the dialect I learned, it's "kay'-sah-dee'-zha" (like the "s" in "pleasure"). No matter what dialect of Spanish you speak, it's never "kay'-suh-dill'-uh," though.

I'll never forget Andy, the Swiss promoter/road manager who took me and my country band around Europe for a couple of weeks, back in the 90s. As we traveled around, the subject of country music came up often in conversation. Every time he said it, he pronounced it "cow-ntry". Hilarious, yet oddly appropriate, no?

How do you get from "nuclear" to "new-cue-lure", for Pete's sake there's no "U" after the damn "L", is there?
...as crazy as the present White House resident makes me with it, it was even worse when a former resident of said abode, of a different political party, who happened to also be a FORMER NUCLEAR ENGINEER IN THE US NAVY couldn't say it right either.

Funny you should say this. I never noticed it until Dubya came along. Then I started noticing many other Republicans saying it as well. Like it became a fad or something.

When I'd have to tare/adjust triple beam balances for my classroom, under my breath I'd always be mumbling (in my best Kool & the Gang), "Calibrate good times, come on. Let's all calibrate and have a good time."

I live just outside baltimore, here people can't seem to even get their own area names quite right.

Washington - Warshington
Baltimore - Ballmer
Maryland - Merland
Dundalk - Dun Dak

It bugs me when people make multiple Springs out of Silver Spring (my home town). Silver Springs is in Florida, not Maryland.
Oh, and please don't abbreviate Maryland as M.D. That is a medical doctor, not a state!
