I love Zappa and Missing Persons, I saw both in concert in '84 (also saw Zappa in '78), still can't get Zappa (or Missing Persons) out of my system, as I can't get Rush, Genesis, Happy The Man, Steely Dan, etc...out of my system. If you want to hear a mix of retro to current music from this genre (*edit* new wave genre*) I suggest the WLIR internet radio app, I remember listening to this station back in the day, it was awesome then, and it's awesome now.

I had never heard of them before.
I always check out threads like these because I'm curious, but watching a few clips of this band only confirmed that I am truly (and violently) allergic to the '80s! The producing, the songwriting style, the fashion...all of it !

Not to derail this thread, but I heard this on the radio several years ago and wasn't sure if it was for real or a parody, but it turns out that it was for real.
For some reason I heard it played in a context where "touch myself" rmost definitely referred to making the sign of the cross. It was horribly disorienting, even though I remember the original release and what it was supposed to be about.
If you want to see a truly diverse career arc, check out what O'Hearn was doing before he joined Zappa, and then put that into context with the Missing Persons and subsequent New Age stuff!
Heh. Yeah, I have a really hard time with "what kind of music" and "what's your favorite song" type questions unless I edit them down to "today" or sometimes "this week" or occasionally "in the last 5 minutes" - and putting the jukebox machine on shuffle all is a really weird experience....
Interestingly, the original also came out of Boston. Well, looks like I'm the fool here...
never knew that Gang Green covered 'Voices Carry'! Worked with Aimee Mann once and did a few shows at the Strand in Boston where her video was made.
Here's a souvenir from the wayback era. Got this case when I bought out a backline guy about 20 years ago.
