MLB 2014

Dodgers--Jansen is back for 4.3M + we got this Perez kid from CLE, & Maholm. Bullpen's looking better.
I don't trust Beckett yet. Haven't seen him throw enough.

I read an article that Beckett had some sort of thoratic surgery that should improve his throwing. Sounds like something that may have been bothering him since he was in Boston. Now I wonder if his declining health had anything to do with his declining attitude in Boston. If he is healthy, he can be a solid middle-of-the-rotation guy for you.

The Pirates now have a full squad of reported players to spring training. Time to add MLB back to the list of sports on the myESPN page. It looks like all the teams will have full squads in camp by the end of the week.

Opening day is 39 days away.

For the Giants it could be a really good season or a really bad season. If everyone plays to their potential and we don't have a lot of injuries we will have a great team in San Francisco. A lot of "ifs" there.

And the Dodgers have a payroll that will continue to be impossible to match, which gives them... some advantages.
And Kershaw. Dang he's good.

So in fantasy, I just traded my first round pick for Cano and a Second round pick. Everyone drafting in the first round need pitchers and there are a bunch of good ones available. I don't need a pitcher. I was going to take Braun with the first overall pick as he is the highest ranked hitter available. So, I will still draft Braun. Basically, I still get my number one pick, Cano and a second second round pick, all for free.

The Braves have utterly failed to sign the starting pitching that they so desperately need. Unless they're sittin' on a bunch of phenom pitchers in the minors, we are going to be shelled all season. I hope the Braves like shagging batted balls from opposing hitters. Grrrr.

Yup I love/hate Kershaw. :p
The Giants have Boche one of the better managers around. Sandoval has reported to spring training in good shape, I hope he stays that way. Lincecum looks good so far, I have a feeling it will be a good year for him. I have concerns still about Scutaro's age and injuries and how well Vogelsong will pitch. I like the additions of Hudson and Morse.

The Mariners are still in first place! They will still be there in a month and about ten days! Yes, you read it here first.

I guess it wouldn't be shocking if the M's crashed and burned like the 2012 Marlins and 2013 Blue Jays but they cold just as likely have a good team this year. Where are they gonna play Nick Franklin this year? He looks like a good player.

Jays crashed and burned because of injuries last year. They had their opening day roster available for only around 40 games last year, and in those games played great ball. If they stay healthy, thy have a scary good team.

These M's will earn about 85 wins. One can hope for more, but with no real number 4 or 5 pitcher and an aging closer with only one good season and very little pop in the lineup and... well... you get the picture.

But yeah, I still love em, weak sauce and all.

The M's will crash and burn because that's what the DO! My guess is that Nick Franklin will go back to short or get traded. He's not Ozzie Smith, but he's not a sieve, either, so I'm guessing he'll be at short.

Didn't your guys make the Playoffs last year?
Such optimism…you getting greedy or what?

My guys? I thought you were a Pirates fan too?

Last season was glorious, capped with a playoff appearance. I loved every minute of it, even losing to the Cardinals was OK.

I'm not being greedy. As the year goes on, I edit my myESPN page with the sports I like that are in season. I've had to hide the MLB tab for a few months, but I'm excited that I can add it back now.
