Barry Bonds has joined the Giants as a hitting instructor. I've seen a couple stories how this is good for the game. I'm not so sure I agree. Several of those steroid guys are pretty much back in baseball again. What do you guys think?

If I were a GM, I would hire Bonds in a second. He is the best hitter the game has ever seen, steroids didn't do that to him, working hard did that to him. Steroids didn't give him the ability to know what pitch was coming at him every time, from pitchers he had never faced before, hard work did. Yes, steroids might have given him the ability to hit a few more home runs, have a few more RBIs ect, but it was talent and hard work that did most of it. Even without the roids, he would still be the best hitter the game has seen.

I said all the same things when Bonds was playing and after. I loved the guy. It's true, I don't disagree at all. I just don't like these guys right back in the game after the years long dog and pony show acting like they (MLB) were so concerned with preserving the integrity of the game.

It wasn't against the rules when they were doing it, so let them back in. Now? Kick them out for life once they are done their suspensions. Bonds isn't like Rose, Rose broke a rule, Bonds didn't.

The Braves have a hot prospect LH reliever at AAA Gwinnett. His name is Ryan Buchter. I hope he can contribute to the big league club this season.

We really need starting pitching. I don't see any encouragement on that front so far.

The Mariners are not winning all their games in spring training. That's a good sign. When they do too well in spring training, they suck the rest of the time. Well, they suck mostly no matter what, but they have at least one day in first place coming. After that, I might take a step up and root for the Cubs.

Braves have signed starter Ervin Santana to a two-year deal at 14.1 million per. What happened to "oh, we're like, so broke"?

Braves ownership and management has been "rope-a-doped" this off-season. That's what happened.

Now they have to over-pay for the banged up left-overs. Looks like a "re-building" year. See ya'll in the cellar.:spit:

Jay's were prepared to offer him that much, and did. Jay's need the starting pitching, but I think that they came out on top by Santana signing elsewhere. Our starting pitching is pretty good so far this preseason, even looks like Romero has his control back. If that is the case, oh boy, are we in for a treat. Dickie is pitching like he did in 2012, Morrow is throwing pain free and Buehrle is being Buehrle. Lots of young guys to compete for the fifth spot. Plus, we still have one of the best, if not the best, bullpens in the AL, easily the best pen in the AL East.

I'm not counting the D-backs out. I think they have a shot at being a good team this year, ditto for the Padres. The NL West is going to be tough. Then there are those guys in blue with all the money. :rollno: As Edward G Robinson would say "Get em boys."

McGwire's our hitting coach. 2nd year. Giants always gotta copy what the Dodgers are doing. hear that slobake?

When the Dodgers announced on Twitter last year w his portrait, his eyes were red so everyone presumed he was high as F. Anyway, it was easier to forgive McGwire because he confessed. Bonds to this day--nope.

A girl I used to date worked w/ Bonds' agent. She said he and Pujols were really nice guys. I'm sure they are who cares come on just fess up. Bat a thousand but if you cheat, it don't count. come on now.

Pete Rose broke a rule that is posted in every clubhouse, that is how serious MLB takes gambling. Do I think that Rose should be in the Hall? Yes and no. Bonds never broke a rule, neither did McGuire, or Sosa; they deserve to be in the hall. A-Rod has broken a rule, probably doesn't deserve to be in the hall, but he didn't do anything to be banned for life, Rose did.

What Rose did didn't affect the outcome of the games or change what happened on the field. Steroids do. Which one of those affect the integrity of the game more?
