I don't want to be "that guy" that starts a thread too soon but the World Series is over and offseason moves are happening effecting the next season.

Red Sox are picking up some great talent with Hanley and Pablo. Now a starter and we will be in a good position, hopefully. I would say I am excited but I am more worried. When they have made acquisitions like this *cough* Crawford *cough* they end up wasting a ton of money. Then a few transition years go by, they play "Moneyball" and sign aging talent and then win the World Series. Time will tell.

I am also like Joe Maddon going to the Cubs; good for both camps. Maddon gets a city that actually cares about the sport and the Cubs get a talented manager.

Ha, well the Boston payroll is still 10 of millions less than NYY but the Soxs are also guilt of dishing out the dough.

But Stanton has made out the best so far this offseason. He will be making $68,000 a day for the next 13 years. More risk than reward for the Marlins IMHO.

Actually, the way the deal is structured is very team friendly. There is a mutual option in 2020 that kicks off the second half of the deal, which is the expensive part. Up until 2020 he is cheap for what he is.

Last year one WAR was worth around $6 million, so he is right in the ball park and has been an incredible deal so far in his career. You could even say he is underpaid for the first six years of the deal.

With all that said, I don't think he deserves to be the highest paid player in the league, as he isn't the best.

No doubt, I'll miss Jason Hayward...but, with the exception of Andrelton Simmons and Freddie Freeman...I say "Let John Hart blow it up".
I love Freddie Gonzalez, but 2015 is time to put up or leave. Don't worry, you won't be unemployed for more than an hour and a half!

Jay's and A's huge trade. Lawrie and prospects for Donaldson. Gotta look into the numbers a little more too see how much I like it long term.

All things being equal, the addition of Donaldson and Martin with the loss of Lawrie and Navarro, they would be firmly in a playoff spot. Based on WAR.

Sandoval is a great postseason player. He has his ups and downs during the regular season. I don't think Redsox fans will respond well to that. I can hear the boos already.
His struggles with his weight may affect his long term skills. The American League is a better fit for him. I think both Pablo and Boston are thinking DH in the not so distant future.

For sure going to be the DH after Ortiz's contract is up after 2016. I see Ramariz moving to first around that time too.

Man, our Sox have had us on a roller coaster the last few years, haven't they? I'm still going to get up there for another few games next season. Hopefully we'll get down to Florida when they play there too. We may even try to make a Spring training game. Those packages really aren't that bad price wise. And by then I'll be really tired of chilly weather so getting down to FL would be nice. I've heard you get more up close and personal with the team in that setting as well.

If Panda can keep the weight off he should be able to hold down third for awhile. He is a surprisingly agile and reliable defender. That said the DH had to be a consideration to make a move to the AL.

I like Arias at third for the Giants (great defender) but I seem to be the only one. Must be his bat, not productive or consistent enough probably.

Lester to the Cubs, looking like they have a chance... but they always make great offseason moves and still find a way to screw it up. I would like to see them final win-it-all, unless they are playing the Sox in the WS.

Red Sox bringing Masterson back to beantown and also adding Wade Miley to the rotation are good moves but nothing earth shattering. Maybe come the trade deadline, if they are contending, they can add a solid lefty ace.

The Mariners are currently tied for first in the west. That's going to last until at least some time in April. Maybe later! Nelson Cruz might be worth the money if he can be a bat that protects Cano and if Sager has a good season. They have pitching. No right fielder yet, but the lineup is beginning to take shape a little. I'm hoping James Jones comes into his own this year. He was close last year, but stopped hitting. If he can get on base, his speed will make him good and disruptive.

The big questions- will Cruz hit in Seattle or will he be another who just dies at Safeco Field and will Saunders make the Mariners regret trading him?
