I remember the Mariners when Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr. and A-Rod (pre-idiot phase) all played for them. I remember the magnificence of Edgar Martinez, and the surprisingly open batting stance of Jay Buhner. LOVED that era of Mariners!!

Randy Johnson and Brett Favre are two of the very, very few athletes who I would tune in to watch just because THEY were playing. Icons, I tells ya!!!!!

Going to Cactus League spring training for 3 days next month. If you have never been its great. I prefer Cactus over Grapefruit (been to both) for a better experience. Unless of coarse the team you want to see is in Fla.

At first, I didn't like this picture at all. I felt about it much the same way I feel about musicians destroying instruments on stage...but then it began to grow on me. These beautiful bats weren't destroyed...they were re-envisioned. They are a different kind of art than they were originally built to be.

90 daze more on the job before I retire! My sister moved from Pittsburgh to Phoenix this past spring. Come Spring '16 I'm planning on being camped out at her house, when I'm not at a game... :)

The nice thing about the Cactus league is the close proximity of all the stadiums. You can stay in 1 place and go to any game you want. In Fla. the fields are spread out all over the state and most are several(or more) hours away. Also, the chances of a rainout are slim.

The Padres signed Shields, they have had the busiest offseason and should give the Giants and Dodgers a run for the title this year. I'm still hoping that the Red Sox add a top starter but the closer to spring training we get, the less faith I have that they will do so. The Sox can be competitive with the pitching they have in hand, but you can never have enough pitching.

Unlike years past, most of the Red Sox have reported early - there are plenty of position players already in camp. It is an encouraging sign that the players are serious about contending this year. I'm still hoping that the Sox land another front line starter - ideally from a trade that might help clear out the outfield logjam that exists at the moment.

Excited at the prospect of watching new faces...learning about a new team! The baseball fan in me is expecting a season around .500...the Braves fan in me
