MLB 2015

MLB Network did a nice segment on the Mariners this morning, and I got to see it courtesy of SnowPocolypse II! Last week we missed 4 days of school due to ice...and everything really was covered...zillions of downed limbs and power lines. This morning it was about an inch of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shut the whole freakin' state of Georgia down!!!!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile...it's Baseball Season! Cheers!

This is the year the Mariners win the World Series! You read it here first!

Close enough - all the position players are in camp and the fun begins in earnest. This year, with all the snow still on the ground around here, the spring training clips from sunny Ft. Myers are more welcome than ever.
Yeah sorry to hear about all that snow, pretty wild.
We got 12" last Saturday. Calling for 8" tonight, 8-12" more this weekend.
Spring training would be a great place to be right now

They are in a good position. Jonah Keri at Grantland has them as the 3rd best overall and 1st in the AL. He had the Red Sox at 12 which feels about right to me. The scary thing is that he had the Cubs at 9 overall and 5th in the NL behind Washington, LA, StL and Miami which puts them in the wild card and anything can happen once the playoffs start. Could this be the year of the Cubbies - they have a lot of former Red Sox on the team and in the front office and as much as Maddon can irk me as an opposing manager, I have to acknowledge that he is one of the best in the game.

Cubbies - Mariners World Series would probably cause Armageddon.

I'd say Cubbies - Anybody; but then again the world continued to spin on its axis after the Red Sox and White Sox won, so maybe we could survive the Cubpocalypse.

Jonah Keri mentioned that the movie Back to the Future has the Cubbies winning in 2015 against Miami (and the movie predates both the Marlins and the Rays!). An NL championship between the two teams would be pretty freaky.

The Mariners are hitting. They do that in spring training. Then they stop when it's the regular season. I hope they have changed their ways. It would probably be a good omen if they couldn't hit the side of a barn with a snow shovel during spring training.

There's a really good chance that this is going to be a really long season...'course, we'll be there all summer long!

The Mariners are still hitting, but they can't pitch their way out of a thin paper bag. It's back to the days of Buhner, Junior, and Edgar, I guess. They were supposed to be light on hitting and heavy on pitching. If their staff gets it together and this hitting keeps up, things will be good. If not, well, there's always next year. They are still going to the World Series this year, unless they don't. And they are going to beat the Cubs in the World Series, unless they don't.

My wife calls the Orioles' decision to play tomorrow's game in an empty stadium "Scary...like, baseball is the canary in the coal mine! Baseball weathers everything...World Wars, for the love of God! Who knows what might happen next?!". Tony and Mike talked about the summer of 1968...the nationwide unrest...how 'games' are just that. The clip of Mama slapping her looting-azz son silly on camera wasn't funny, it was heartbreaking. Men in blue all over America are in need of some time for soul searching. This is not 1968; but being afraid (and rightly so) of bringing a crowd together for a baseball game, makes it sorta feels like the ball is rolling in that direction...
