Great job of small ball by KC, and I have no real complaints about the Mets' over-achieving season. Wait til next year!

My only beef was in the last game telling Harvey he was done before the first out in the bottom of the 8th. What good does that do? The only result is he does exactly what he did. Flipped out and said gimme the damn ball, along with the full house who heartily agreed. All telling him he was done so early did was get in his head in a major way. When that first pitch was a 96mph fastball a foot over the batters head I knew he was gonna over throw, and lose the strike zone, which is exactly what happened. How on earth do they leave him in for a second batter? Not saying Familia was not capable of blowing another one, but it was obvious Harvey had a mouthful of bad juju and was about to give it up. Which is exactly what happened. I have not bashed Collins all season, even when he left Duda in through a 2 for 40, 5 error slump, but that nonsense with the game on the line was too much. What does letting him think he is going back out there for the 9th harm? He sits there at the end of the bench alone, like every pitcher does, thinking I'm the man, and waiting for the ball. After the Mets went down in 5 minutes, THEN you tell Harvey he's through, and he has no beef because he had no rest, and Familia was more than ready to go. Also, let's say the Mets actually hang a couple more runs on the board bottom of 8, that makes sending him back out a no brainer because now there is a cushion, and he did roast them pretty effortlessly in the 8th. I have no issue with sending him out there to start the 9th, but I have big issue with how poorly it was handled. Absolutely no reason to make him beg for a ball that should have still been his to begin with. That's some amateur BS from the skipper right there.

On top of all that, only an idiot with zero baseball sense leaves him in for a second batter after the lead off walk.


Great hustling by KC, and they beat the Mets at their own game, at least when they weren't booting the ball and beating themselves.

And leaves Cespedes in after he knee-capped himself was a total head-scratcher. Basses loaded and no outs? Awful.

I don't know. I think the Royals will keep the core of this current team for a while. They should be in the hunt again next year.
Just so you know, I spent a couple years in St. Louis and graduated high school there. I was at the parade for the '82 Series! I was pulling for the Cards to make it this year so we could have a 30th anniversary World Series. With the same outcome of course! :)

I don't know about "idiot" but I agree that he should have been taken out right there and then...

Agreed...Has a lot of attitude and is a streaky hitter...Has a great arm but does not have good fielding instincts...Not worth what he is going to ask for...
