MLB 2018

EVERY time Matt Kemp gets into a game I get more, and more #%??€) 0££.

He was an overweight slacker while he worked in Atlanta.
He sure didn’t work toward a World Series ring while he was part of a woeful team.
He didn’t seem to be much interested in making them any better, either.

Now he’s part of a Very Good team, and he gets to ride along.

Don’t seem fair, somehow...

Waiting for Machado to get DRILLED.
I don’t want a genuine injury...I Do expect WHOever is pitching at the time to hit him...not a freakin’ 74mph curveball either.

Craig Counsel just pulled his starter after the 1st batter.
He’ll be ready for game 7.

My guess is the will wait til next year. They won't ant to o it in close game, but it looks like our grapes in a lopsided game.

As someone who played first base for decades, I don't to hear any excuses for Machado. First baseman had his foot on the corner of the bag - perfect execution. Machado had plenty of room to run through the bag. He intentionally leaned his left knee in an intent to run into him. It's lucky there was no injury.

Idiot Houston fans just turned a two run homer into an out!

Thanks was a tough call. Once the ball is in the stands, there can't be interference. I think West missed this one (and I'm not rooting for Houston).

A weird start to a weird game...

That one went for the Sox. But several oddities in this game.

Hardly the first player to dog it on a bad team. Too bad, he could have been a leader. That's why they got him.

The beer incident reminds me of the days when Dodger fans were less than kind to Jack Clark when he roamed right for the Giants. The Dodgers stopped beer sales in the Pavillion. I swear it wasn’t me. Clark got the last word in some years later during the 85 NLCS when he was with the Cards and hit his 9th inning homer off Niedenfeuer at Dodger Stadium. Fans can be so brutal. I was once at an Angels/Yankee game where a Yankees fan became so obnoxious he tried to light the hair of the guy in front of him on fire. Don’t get me started on Raiders fans...
Jack Clark deserved pretty much anything he got. Just saying. And especially as NYC living Mets fan while Jack Clark was with the Cardinals, I will say that as many times as necessary.

In that era, late seventies, early to mid eighties, we pretty much hated him more than any other opposing player. Even more than Reggie Jackson, who we also couldn’t stand, but didn’t get to play or boo much.

We were pretty shocked when the Dodgers got him to hopefully use as trade bait. Some us us weren’t huge fans during his first go go round. Apparently no one wanted him. He had a nice season though. He showed up in shape, was a good clubhouse guy, and didn’t complain publicly about being a platoon player.

Speaking of fans and their behavior, I always think it is interesting to see how different areas tend to attract different people. Outfield bleacher fans tend to have the most fun. A couple of stories:

When Jeff Francoeur was with the Royals, the As fans were giving him a hard time. He tossed a $100 bill tied to a ball to them, instructing them to use it to buy bacon or beer. He later ordered a bunch of personal pizzas and had it delivered to them. He became a crowd favorite there.

About 15 years ago, I was at Wrigley Field. Before the game, they had about 8 t ball diamonds in the outfield pointed out, and kids played a few innings. They were cheered more than the Cubs were, and when someone hit a home run into the bleachers, they threw it back, just like the real games.

Bleacher bums seem to have more fun. Maybe it's the beer.

Beaning Machado - not a good idea at Dodger Stadium with 50k plus in the seats. You guys will have to try that at home. Funny, I was hoping for some chin music with Braun.

Having a hard time figuring Counsel out. Either he’s a genius or he’s nuts. Either way, he’s refreshingly different. I’m thinking no matter how this turns out, you guys will be in the hunt every year for the foreseeable future.

Counsel kind of reminds me of Scioscia. Major success early as a manager. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get back to the Series even with Vlad all those years and more recently Pujols.

Wonderful post, but Please don’t put me on the very short list of Neanderthals who would suggest ‘beaning’ is the answer to Anything.
I think of Beaning as going up high; after a guy’s head.

Given the ration of $#!+ that Machado handed out at first base on Tuesday night, it would be more appropriate to force him to Skip A Rope 4 times.

Nope, don’t think you’re a Neanderthal at all. As for Machado, we’ll only have him for however many games are left to play this year. He’ll be off to somewhere with a fat wallet in his pocket next season. We’re just hoping to get a healthy Corey Seager back. Our main concern is a catcher. Grandal is a free agent and is likely to move on...

Grandal has had a terrible post season. He is one of the very few Dodgers to ever get booed by fans in Dodger stadium. If he leaves for bigger bucks, I personally will have no heartbreak. Just sayin.

I agree, sort of. But he was the only bright spot in April though and wihout that, the Dodgers probably would have lost a couple more games and been out of it before the last week of September. Had I been fortunate enough to be at the game, I would not have booed him. He plays the most demanding position in the game. Very few can do what he does. And those who can don’t last many years before having to move to a different position. Unfortunately, he fades at the end of the season.

I have been to hundreds of games over 50 years and can only remember one Dodger being booed; Steve Sax after something like his third awful throw in a row.

Whaaa?!!
LA doesn’t have enough money to keep Machado? :roflmao:

Seems to me that the Dodgers would be a perfect fit...if you don’t worry about the ‘embarrassment of riches’ angle...;)
Of course they do. They print money at Dodger Stadium. But I don’t think they’ll spend it on him. Unless they’re worried about Seager not being able to get back and think Turner is hurt/more fragile more than anyone has let on. They really need another quality starter and there is the catcher issue....

Magic and the Dodgers have all the money they need. But even they don't need 2 all star shortstops. They are better off paying pitchers.
