All hail the World Champion Astros! Ok, enough of that. I waited a decorous few hours before predicting that the 2018 World Championship belongs to the Mariners. They are in a tense battle for first place, at least until spring training starts.

Now we have a thread to discuss reality, and for me to think that this is the year. Because, this really is the year. If the Cubs can win, and the Astros can win, it proves that anything can happen. Which means the Mariners are on their way to glory.

Mariners are 21? Oh, the pain! Well, never mind that for now. This is their year. Never mind that King Felix is probably going to have to become Jamie Moyer soon and that the rest of the team is built out of toothpicks and rubber bands and a whole lot of Advil.

Sweet news for Pirate fans. They exercised their option on Andrew McCutchen.

Roy Halladay died today in a plane crash. He slipped out of the public eye after retiring a few years ago, but I remember him being a really good pitcher.

As a Met fan, I have to wonder what team will show up. Hopefully Wright will retire, someone will take Harvey, and fewer than 2/3 of the team will end up on the DL.

Very sad news, which will hit hard in Philly. Incredible pitcher, and an unbelievably decent guy. When he won the Cy Young in 2010, he ordered a duplicate trophy for catcher Carlos Ruiz, who had called Doc's perfect game and playoff no-hitter that year. Very classy.

Seemed more a review of 2017 than a fresh ranking. Mets had a HORRENDOUS season, especially based on the injuries to the starting pitçhing, I would argue the most disappointing season of all, but they are middle of the road at present looking to 2018.

If you ever get to Fenway, take a minute away from the madding crowd and visit the statue of Bobby Doerr and his 3 life-long Friends.

We have Kate Upton by extension of Justin Verlander, we can't lose.

  17. Sorry, @Gaolee , but before last season, when you were predicting a 2017 Mariners World Championship, I put dibs on the 2018 World Series for the Brewers.

Well, I'm just not a very nice guy. I'm taking the 2018 World Serious from you. You can have 2020 or something.

  19. You can't have it back. And I'll still take 2020. Thanks!
