All hail the World Champion Astros! Ok, enough of that. I waited a decorous few hours before predicting that the 2018 World Championship belongs to the Mariners. They are in a tense battle for first place, at least until spring training starts.

Now we have a thread to discuss reality, and for me to think that this is the year. Because, this really is the year. If the Cubs can win, and the Astros can win, it proves that anything can happen. Which means the Mariners are on their way to glory.

Roy Halladay died today in a plane crash. He slipped out of the public eye after retiring a few years ago, but I remember him being a really good pitcher.

Very sad news, which will hit hard in Philly. Incredible pitcher, and an unbelievably decent guy. When he won the Cy Young in 2010, he ordered a duplicate trophy for catcher Carlos Ruiz, who had called Doc's perfect game and playoff no-hitter that year. Very classy.

Seemed more a review of 2017 than a fresh ranking. Mets had a HORRENDOUS season, especially based on the injuries to the starting pitçhing, I would argue the most disappointing season of all, but they are middle of the road at present looking to 2018.
