MLB 2018

Kershaw signed a 7 year $215,000,000 contract, including a $18,000,000 signing bonus, for an annual average salary of $30,714,286. That said, he married his high school sweetheart and they both live quite modestly when considering their income level.

My understanding is that he can opt out. He and his progeny may be set for life, but my guess is he will opt out.

I have no way of knowing what is going in his head. I guess we will all have to wait and see what Clayton does in the future. That said, when and if Justin Turner ever leaves, I would be truly heart broken. He is the glue who holds the Dodgers together.

What do y'all think if it is Red Sox-Dodgers?

I yuuugly prefer 9- Man Baseball.
I will die an NL guy.

Having shared that...I told a good friend, back around the 4th Of July that the Saux had the potential to be one of those Great teams that we only get to see once in a great while...on the order of Bob Gibson’s Cards, or the Big Red Machine, or the late-90s Yankee teams.

Yeah, they’re That good.

Boston Red Sox fans are a yuuuge hoot!
Their passion is Second. To. None.
I enjoy watching them lose their collective minds!!

Kershaw grew up in Dallas. Texas has two teams. He lives in Arizona. They have a team. The only other teams that would make geographic sense for a guy signing his last deal and by all accounts is a home body, would be Colorado (who wants to pitch there?), the Padres (the word cheap comes to mind), the Angels or Dodgers. Just talking ou of my a**. But I’m hoping for him to stick around until 2023 and retire at 35, having spent his entire carrer and go into the HOF as a Dodger. Dreams sometimes do come true.

I doubt he is leaving, but will get a better contract.

You and me both. I love the NL. It’s real baseball. Although the Dodgers play more Weaver ball than anything else these days and the DH rule would actually benefit them. But Dodgers/Red Sox would be awesome. Two great cities with great fans (except for those at Dodger Stadium who occupy the field level sections near home plate; clueless twits IMO) But it’s not over until the you know who sings and the Brewers will have a say in what happens. GO DODGERS!

You’re right about JT. With all the talent they’ve had, very few were “the glue.” When I was a kid, it seemed to be Willie Davis. Later it was Reggie Smith. Rick Monday, who was basically platooned, seemed to be like that, although very quietly. They never would have won in ‘88 without Sciosia and Gibson basically exerting their will to win. Strawberry was a total bust and I’d rather forget the nineties ever happened. Nomar came, albeit in his twilight years, and brought that kind of leadership that almost got them back to the Series. Turner is the heart of the team at this point. They better keep him. I get mad every time I think about the Dodgers (it was Fox who owned them then) letting Piazza go.
