MLB 2019

Tough. Do I cheer for the Mets' rival (Nats), or their former rivals (Astros)?

after what the mets did to the astros in '86 (not to mention '69), you best be backing the astros

more fun facts: after starting 12 games under after 50 games, the nationals closed out the season tied for the 2nd most wins with the dodgers, one less than the astros.

the nationals have the oldest lineup in the major leagues.

the nationals won 3 elimination playoff games before sweeping the cardinals in the nlcs.

tonight will be the first world series game one in the state of texas.

Sac has had a rabid sports culture from the Surge to the Gold Miners football teams, the Rivercats minor league baseball team to the Knights soccer team. We're trying to get a pro soccer team here but have missed the cut several times. We desperately miss the WNBA. The monarchs were a wonderful franchise. We travel well for 9ers games and Raiders games as well as the Giants and Golden State Warriors. The Kings have sold out for decades. We're a small market but we're absolutely a sports town. I'd love for a pro soccer team to come here. I've enjoyed the last 3 years of getting into the Primer league. To me, it's like the history and stories that make baseball so great mixed with the action of hockey and the rivalries and fandom of American football. I took to it rather quickly once I dove in. I really like my choice of Arsenal. It's odd to say but the team fits me, as a fan, like a glove.
Congrats. According to 'the crawl' on ESPN, y'all are getting a MLS team.

I'm usually an AL guy in the World Series (except when the Yanks are playing) and I have no beef with the Astros - they are a great team, but this year I'm pulling for the Nats. This kind of picture tweeted by the Washington National Cathedral reminds me of Boston circa 2004.

First in War. First in Peace. First in the NLCS.

I'm a huge Altuve fan. He is the same height as I am. I went to an open tryout back in the day and was told to go home because I was too short. I asked them if it was an open tryout, and they said yes. I then told them that they will have to watch me play and then tell me to go home. They watched me play, then sent me for a physical. A bad knee kept me from playing Rookie Ball that year.

All that to say that I truly identify with his story. Altuve is one of my all-time favorite players and I will root for him and his team unless they are playing Brewers. Go Astros!

They’re going to have a state of the art stadium complex for it. I expect they’ll pack the place regularly. It’ll be accessible by their light rail network. Who knows, maybe I’ll even go to a game; never had the desire to see mls before.

Nats in 6.

Do any of the righties on Houston have decent splits against left-handed hitters?

They have some decent options out of the pen. Here are the slash lines against lefties:

Roberto Osuna: .150 .214 .258 .472
Hector Rondon: .219 .306 .490 .795
Will Harris: .207 .226 .264 .490
Ryan Pressley: .124 .165 .196 .361
