MLB 2024

So far the SFGiants have been playing just under .500 baseball. They are showing signs of life. They are starting to hit and Logan Webb has been pitching lights out baseball. He has pitched 19 consecutive scoreless innings. The Jordan Hicks experiment from reliever to starter is going well. He is holding down a 1.61 ERA so far and he is stretching out his starts. Rookie pitchers Kyle Harrison and Keaton Winn are getting better every game.
But then there is Blake Snell :poop: So far he has stunk the place up every time he pitches. He was scheduled to pitch today but was scratched this morning and place on the 15 IL with an abductor strain. (Whatever that is). Rooking Landen Roup was just sent down to the minors yesterday and today he got the call up to pitch tonight. Roup has been okay so far, hoping he comes through tonight for a sweep of the Mets.

No such luck...

I'm going to Citi Field for Bark in The Park Day. Both my son and I will be bringing our pups. Hopefully I'll have some photos.

Not sure I can train my dog to poop in front of the visitor dugout in time.

Yup, the Giants lost but I will take two out of three any day. Besides, Why are you dogging the Giants? :D

Go M's! The Jays have a slightly better record (one more win) and that's only good enough for fourth place in the AL East :-/

It's crazy to see the Astros so far behind in the standings to start the year. They're even behind the A's! Really dug themselves a hole.
The Dodgers took the first two of three from the Nats. Including a nice outing from the just called up rook Landon Knack in a 12-2 rout. Yamamoto goes tonight. Then it’s on to Toronto for three with the Jays. It’ll be nice to see JT.

After the game last night the Cards players dumped a cooler of ice water on Gibson. Really! You're 11-14. Maybe the worst Cards team in years and the last few have been pretty bad. Celebrate when you've done something.
They won the game yesterday, so that’s worth enjoying a little bit. It’s not the overall record they’re celebrating—just the individual win. Let the boys have a little fun. Having said that, Gibson’s pitching line in the box score isn’t that incredible. Why did he get the ice bucket treatment?

It's a long season. You need to celebrate the good things when they happen. Baseball is streaky and contagious. By the way, the Cardinals are the team I'm always worried about at the end of the season. I remember 2011, when the Brewers were clobbering the Cardinals, and the red birds were written off by the All-Star Break, only to sneak into the playoffs and beat us in the NLCS.

Why the long face. After today's 4-3 loss to the Mariners, the Rangers are back down to .500 and the Mariners are at .520.
No long face. I am giddy for a day. Baseball is like that. Tomorrow is extacy or agnony, but tomorrow is extacy or agony. And the day after. It is great that way until the magic number in September.

Big props to the Braves of Atlanta for, to quote Foolish Bailey, "forgetting how to baseball." I was in Colorado living with my dad for a while and we were driving around the state during that post season. It went from unbelievable to unreal in a few weeks.
