After that absolute stinker of a game against the Rockies last Friday, they won on Saturday and Sunday == series win. Then they took two games from NYY on Monday and Tuesday night == another series win. They're up 2-0 right now after 4 innings, trying for the sweep of the Yanks. The wins are still not super convincing. This lineup should be putting more runs up on the board. But wins are wins, and four (maybe five!) in a row is nice to see. The starting pitchers have all looked great in these wins. That is very promising even if I'm still a bit frustrated by the bats.
Aaaaand Kris Bryant of the Rockies bumped his back on the fence and is on Injured Reserve.
Contract: 7 years, $182 million. He has played about 135 games since signed in 2022, less than a half-season per year.

I would really appreciate it if the Red Sox would start dropping off a bit! I kind of had them pegged as the last place team in the AL East this year.
Right now, competition is looking tough for all five ALE teams:
I could see any of Toronto, Tampa, or Boston finishing in last place but still having a decent record. I suppose even New York or Baltimore could fall down the standings if things go sideways for either team.

I just got back from St. Louis. We went to the game on Saturday and were not disappointed. I came into the game with high expectations after hearing so many great things about Busch Stadium. I was not disappointed. We were decked out in our Brewer gear, so I was expecting some grief. Several Cardinal fans grumbled at us, but none of them could do it with a straight face. We had great seats, about 10 rows behind the Brewer dugout. The view was as advertised. Of course, a 12-5 Brewer win made it even more enjoyable.
The AL West is the flip side. The whole division could end up below .500 this year. Or at least that's how it looks at the moment.
Hard to like that. I like the guy. My daughter went to USD and was friends win him and his wife. She says he was always a class act. I hope he can get going in the right direction.
The Dodgers gave it their best last week trying to drop to 500. Fortunately, Glasnow was lights out on Sunday and the bats woke up. We’ll see what happens in the series with the Nationals that starts tonight.
Could happen with interleague and interdivisional play. Rangers avoided dropping below .500 Sunday by winning game 3 in the NL-Braves series.
The Mariners play in Texas this next series. Texas looked like they were going to run away and hide. The Mariners looked like they were just going to hide this season. They have been meeting in the middle and now they are meeting on the field. So far, the Mariners have been badly underperforming. The pitching has been poor and they haven't been able to hit a beach ball. That started to change over the last week. I hope it keeps up. And with all due respect to Texas, I hope they keep sinking. It's early yet, but it all adds up.
The Brewers (lack of) pitching depth is being tested early with Wade Miley and DL Hall going to the IL. Pitching hasn't been the issue with the two losses to the Pirates, but those two spots haven't come up yet.
How many complete games have been pitched thus far this season? I know of one now. Fried of the Braves.

Go M's! The Jays have a slightly better record (one more win) and that's only good enough for fourth place in the AL East :-/
It's crazy to see the Astros so far behind in the standings to start the year. They're even behind the A's! Really dug themselves a hole.
Ohtani hits 118.7 mph home run last night. Hardest hit so far in 2024 season.Even all the Dodgers dropped their jars watching for the dugout.
