MLB 2024

@buldog5151bass ,
Like this? Since the ball is dead per the backswing interference rule, the batter can’t possibly take first on the uncaught third strike. The runners can’t advance. Since it was the third strike, the batter is out.

Perhaps it wasn’t explained correctly live during the game.

Mariners are still in first. oooooWEEEE! Mitch Garver finally did something besides flail. It sure looked like Atlanta was going to beat the Mariners with a single run until the ninth inning. Typical heart attack behavior by the Mariners. I'll take it if it keeps them winning. Texas had the night off, so the Mariners are now a whole game ahead of them. It's bizarre seeing the Astros in the basement and flailing away. Not that I mind.

Mitch will come around; He always does.

What's wrong with the umps here? That's the rule. If the catcher didn't get hit with the bat, maybe he stops the pitch.

If you want the rule changed, that's one thing. But don't blame the umps for correctly enforcing the rule.

The ball was already passed the catcher, and had the catcher not moved forward, there would have been no contact. But if the rule doesn't cover that, I guess I was wrong and I apologize. Please forgive me for being a bit salty.

By the way, I always appreciate being taught something I didn't know about baseball, even if it sucked for the Brewers.

The umpire has to make the call immediately. If he thibks it interferes with the catcher's ability to make a play, it's the corrct call. He is also protecting a player. He saw the catcher get whacked (I saw the replay).

Yes, I umpire. Yes, I thought it was the correct call.

No, I am not a Brewer fan. ;)
