MLB 2024

I think I'm gonna need to borrow that barf bucket if I'm gonna keep watching Jays games

3-7 in their last 10 with a 15-17 record overall. It feels like they were lucky to get some of those 15 wins. (Pythag. W-L on Baseball Reference seems to agree; it's 12-20 because of the poor run differential.) Very frustrating. But I'm a sucker. A few wins to get back to .500 and I'll start believing again.

Today is an off-day, and then they're off to Washington for three games before a tough stretch of series against Philly, Minnesota, Baltimore, and Tampa. The Nats aren't pushovers, but those games are arguably more winnable than everything that follows, except maybe the games vs. Tampa... but the Rays always give the Jays trouble. After all that, Toronto gets three games vs. the White Sox. If they lose the White Sox series then I will really be sick.

It's my fault, I started cheering for them
Stay away from the Mariners then. They don't need help when it comes to being disappointing. They seem to be getting a bit going this season, though. Taking a series from the Braves is good, although if they played better yesterday maybe they could have eked out a sweep. I'll take winning a series at this point. On to Houston, who are surprisingly awful. I hope they don't wake up this week.

Nay nay! I ordered a Mariners hat on your tab. Should be here soon!

So Dodger manager Dave Roberts gave Ohtani the night off in last night's game against the D-Backs. Dodger's pitching was stellar and shut out the D-Backs 8 to 0. A nice way to start the month of May. That said, with Atlanta coming to town for this weekend series, the Dodgers will need to be playing their A game and hitting on all cylinders. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Easiest way to get out of the neighborhood after a game.

Mariners just took two of three in Houston. It's been a while since that was routine. I hope it keeps up. On to Minnesota. The Mariners and Twins had a whole lot of bad blood back in the 1980s and early 1990s. Not many of the players, if any, were even born back when the teams had some brawls.

Castillo is on the mound for game 1. He seems to be rounding into form now. If the hitters can do that as well, the Mariners will be more formidable than they are at the moment. They still seem pretty shaky to me so far, even though they keep winning one series after another.
