I dunno, NLCS Dodgers-Mets should draw well I would think.I thought the last time they had a subway series it ended up having some of the lowest TV ratings of any World Series?
Honestly, any of the middle earth teams would be fine
So sad even thinking about Show.I dunno, NLCS Dodgers-Mets should draw well I would think.
Subway Series (notice capitalization not present in prior post) would be for the World Series which, of course, if the NLCS *was* Dodgers-Mets it could be.
I'm still pulling for Cleveland on the junior circuit side but have no animosity towards the Tigers. Can't ever pull for the Padres and they can blame Eric Show for that.![]()
I was actually remembering when Show beaned Andre Dawson in the face and then snuck out of the stadium before the game was over.So sad even thinking about Show.
A rematch between SD and Detroit would be interesting though, these 40 years later.
I like the Mets. But then I lived in NYC for five years and don't like the Yankees at all.Subway series had great local ratings, but the rest of the country doesn't give a rat's !#%#@ about the Mets.
Yeah! I’m looking forward to watching him pitch tomorrow afternoon.Skubal
That's all.
What changed the momentum in the series was after Manny Machado threw a ball from the San Diego dugout across the infield at 60-70mph at Manager Dave Roberts. That act really pissed off the Dodger players and put the fire in their belly's to get aggressive. Thank you Manny! Game 4 and 5, the Dodger pitching pitched 26 consecutive of shutout innings against the Padres.I hear there are many lovely golf courses in the San Diego area.
Manny, Fernando, and Jurickson should have no problem securing a Tee Time tomorrow morning. (But, y'all might want to stop at the Driving Range first, to work on your swings...)
Thanks, Padres!
They could have a shot. But so far he’s making a good case for himself that the Dodgers should give him a deal. We’ll see. I expect he’ll want a longer deal than they’ll be willing to go for. He has been a good Dodger this year. Frankly, they may not be where they are but for him and Kike. Ohtani has been great and all, but the Hernandez duo have to stepped up when it mattered.Ugh… Padres. This was supposed to be the year..!
I miss Teoscar and want him back in Toronto.
I have no clue what to expect. The Dodgers of April and May aren’t the team playing now. Back then, Glasnow was the ace. That Yamamoto got his groove back on Friday was a miracle. Can a one legged Freddie pull off a Gibsonesque moment? What will Ohtani. Mookie, Smith, and Muncy be able to do? The Mets are a good team on a roll. It should be a fun series.TigersSkubal would probably like that pitch back that went for a grand slam. Oh well, it was a nice little run that Detroit went on the last couple months. Nobody expected them in the postseason picture.
NLCS starts tonight! Mets at Dodgers, hopefully for a full seven games of excitement.
I don’t have a great read on the NLCS. I keep picking against the Mets and it isn’t working out for meBut the Dodgers are still the Dodgers. LAD won the season series 4-2 vs. NYM. But those games were played in April and May. Can’t derive much meaning from that. Both teams were winning games at a good clip in August and September, and of course they are the two NL teams left standing.
I guess I pick the Dodgers to advance to the World Series. I’m not super confident about it though. I just want to see a good, competitive series.
Than heavens the Pirates are done for the year. Their sole purpose in this league is to show other fans that it could be worse!OK, time for the new thread for the upcoming season. Congratulations to Texas and all that. But that was a while ago. I'm slacking.
I'm optimistic about the Mariners' pitching staff, provided they don't get wiped out by injuries or bone headed GM moves. So far, the bone headed GM moves haven't been so bone headed these days. Some worked out, some didn't. What they really need is to make contact when they are up to bat. A couple of high average bats would make the Mariners formidable. They have JP Crawford back, and he's really rounding into a just under the radar beast. Julio will be back indefinitely, and I don't see him doing much besides get even better with time, injury notwithstanding. The rest of the lineup isn't perfect, but it has promise.
On to the hot stove league.
