Dayum! He could play for the Mariners.
Speaking of the M's: Today Jim Bowden has a column up on The Athletic, Ranking the 18 MLB teams that didn't make the playoffs: Who is best-positioned for 2025? Guess which team ranks first? Bowden seems to like Seattle's chances:Dayum! He could play for the Mariners.
With arguably the game's best rotation heading into 2025, they just have to put together an average offense - but reduce the strikeouts significantly - and they'll be a serious playoff threat for the AL West title and/or a Wild Card berth.
I feel sorry for the guy, but he always has a good demeanor about it. I once again mailed in my ballot firing the owners…The Rockies are bringing the manager Bud Black back for the 9th season. I'm delighted to hear it. He's a great guy and he gets all he can out of the mulligan stew of players they give him to work with.
Pitching is the Rockies' weakness and probably always will be thanks to the altitude.
Until last night, I thought you were right above the Padres over the Dodgers. But now who knows. Miracles can happen.ALDS and NLDS start tomorrow! What have you got advancing to the Championship Series???
Detroit @ Cleveland (CLE won season series 7-6)
I think Cleveland is the smarter pick. They hit more HRs, steal more bags, have a better bullpen overall and perhaps the best closer in the entire league. But I am for sure cheering for the Tigers. They've been on such an exciting run. If there's such a thing as momentum, they've got it and I think they'll be coming into this series hot. They're a scrappy bunch that is well managed (Hinch seems to be pulling all the right levers). And they have Skubal on their side. Go Tabbies!
Kansas City @ New York Yankees (NYY won season series 5-2)
I am rooting against NY but I feel like the party stops here for the Royals. KC's starters have been legit good all year. Names like Lugo, Ragans, and Wacha don't exactly jump off the page... but they have been very effective. I am very curious to see how these guys manage against the team that hits so many HRs. Feels like it may not end well for KC's pitchersNeither team has a lights-out bullpen but NY probably has the edge in that department. And NY's starting pitchers are no slouches either. Regrettably, I'm picking the Yanks to win this one.
New York Mets @ Philadelphia (PHI won season series 7-6)
For Philly, it's gotta be World Series or bust. Anything less than a WS win would be a failure for this team. I feel like the Phils take this series -- but I am not so sure about betting against the Mets again eitherBoth teams hit a lot of HRs. Both teams have pretty respectable starting pitching, though Philly has the best starter of the two teams (Wheeler). I also like Philly's bullpen better than New York's. It's not a slam dunk but I'm taking the Phils.
San Diego @ Los Angeles Dodgers (SD won season series 8-5)
This is the year for the Dads. It is happening. The Dodgers have Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman, not to mention several other solid players. But they also have quite a few guys missing due to injury. Pitching is an area of weakness for sure. The Dads have it all going on right now. It won't be easy but they are knocking the Dodgers off and advancing to the NLCS!
I’m hoping for the other blue hat from the NL.
The M’s had their shots against the Angels and A’s.I hope we get a good game #3 tonight between New York and Milwaukee. Go Brewers!
Hard to believe that three AL Central teams are in the ALDS. Fun fact: Here are these teams’ records against the White Sox in 2024:
- Cleveland: 8-5
- Detroit: 10-3
- Kansas City: 12-1
If the White Sox had been just Regular Bad instead of Historical Bad then the complexion of the AL Wild Card standings might have been different. Seattle and Boston wish that they could have also played Chicago 13 times this summer!![]()
I was hoping Roberts goes bye-bye and Black would get a shot in L.A. while we wait for Bochy to finish up in Texas.I feel sorry for the guy, but he always has a good demeanor about it. I once again mailed in my ballot firing the owners…
You had me until go dodgersUntil last night, I thought you were right above the Padres over the Dodgers. But now who knows. Miracles can happen.
Congrats to the Mets for knocking of the Phillies.
I’m rooting for the Tigers and Royals. Them advancing is good for baseball. And of course I can never root for the Yankees.
Go Dodgers!
I'm all for a subway series . . . I imagine TV is even more enthusiastic about it.You had me until go dodgers
I’m a Red Sox fan. So no lolI'm all for a subway series . . . I imagine TV is even more enthusiastic about it.
I thought the last time they had a subway series it ended up having some of the lowest TV ratings of any World Series?I'm all for a subway series . . . I imagine TV is even more enthusiastic about it.
