The Dodgers so far have been the hungrier and more determined. They played to win the first three games. The Yankees have no sense of apparent urgency and continue to struggle to say the least. We'll see what happens tonight, however. It’ll depend in large part on which Buehler shows up. It appears Ohtani may play, although he hasn’t exactly been setting the series on fire. Two good games so far. As they say, anything can happen. Go Dodgers!
As is my usual position when I don't have a horse in the race (a rather frequent occurrence for a Chicago fan) I'd just like to see a long series with exciting games so a Yankees win would help in that regard. Looks like some degree of the unseasonably warm weather we're having here (81F today) has made its way East as well with gametime temp projection of 61F so hoping to see some Bombers bombing. Even if they end up being swept they should at least go out with a bang instead of a whimper . . . you know, for the kids!Since the Dodger's only have three starting pitchers due to all the injuries, tonight's game will be a Bullpen game which has always a roll of the dice for the Dodgers. If one or two of the 7 or 8 pitchers is not on their "A" game, it will give the Yankees a lot more opportunity to score more runs. I am no expert with no crystal ball, but I am giving the Yanks around a 70% chance of winning game 4 tonight. BTW, I am sayin this as a die hard Dodger fan too.
I'm definitely not expecting a sweep, but I'm certainly hoping for one. If the Dodger bats stay hot, it's quite possible.Since the Dodger's only have three starting pitchers due to all the injuries, tonight's game will be a Bullpen game which has always a roll of the dice for the Dodgers. Yep, I agree. The Dodger bats will need to be hot tonight as I would expect more Yankee scoring tonight.I'm definitely not expecting a sweep, but I'm certainly hoping for one. If the Dodger bats stay hot, it's quite possible.
And also to consider MLB and Fox would like the games to continue for additional revenues. As is my usual position when I don't have a horse in the race (a rather frequent occurrence for a Chicago fan) I'd just like to see a long series with exciting games so a Yankees win would help in that regard. We’re on the same page Stewie. The good news is there’s Flaherty, Yamamoto, and Buehler. And Buehler now has two solid outings under his belt. It only takes one win. If it somehow goes to seven, I still like the chances. If not tonight, I’d like to see them finish it off tomorrow night.Since the Dodger's only have three starting pitchers due to all the injuries, tonight's game will be a Bullpen game which has always a roll of the dice for the Dodgers. Ha. Many people say if’s rigged to maximize attendance and viewership. I’ve never believed that. A sweep or finishing in five will shut those people up. We’ve seen three exiting games and I’ll miss it when it’s over. And also to consider MLB and Fox would like the games to continue for additional revenues.
I think Freddie quashed whatever enthusiasm they had going into the game. They had a few chances. Former Dodger Verdugo was too little, too late to make a difference. And his smugness after hitting it will be remembered.I feel like the Yankees lineup needs to put some runs early in the game tonight to try to build some momentum. Try to break up the Dodger's bullpen strategy as early as possible. If the Yankees' hitters can't get into any kind of rhythm and the Dodgers' relievers are in control of the game, then we might be looking at a sweep.
I feel like the Yankee fans need to get loud, even if the team is losing. That stadium was so quiet last night (on the TV feed at least, I of course was not there). It's not like they were down huge. A four run deficit should be nothing to that lineup.
I also think Judge needs to make a big change to his approach if he's going to help the team in any meaningful way the rest of the series. He's had a lot of non-competitive swings at bad pitches. Zero in on fastballs and eliminate everything else. Maybe let the ball travel a bit further before pulling the trigger instead of swinging early trying to pull. Base hits to the opposite field -- or a walk if the pitcher is throwing nothing but breaking stuff -- is going to help a lot more than another strikeout.
