MM sterling poor sound

hello, my MM sterling has no presence anymore playing with the band, poor sound. Replacing batteries improves a bit but then I have been replacing them every few gigs, 4 to five maximum - that is i have to replace every week to get to a average sound. I have had it for 10 years and used to sound much better. Any help?? thanks

Maybe you've got a short in your electronics? It shouldn't be eating batteries like that. Batteries should last you a good six months if you unplug when you're not playing.
