Modding A EB0 May Be My Future

You can get a chrome bridge pickup from Allparts.com for $35 that sounds pretty good.

I put it into an EB-0 that I modified, along with a Model One. Check it out here if you want to see and hear it:

Epiphone EB-0 Bass Upgraded with Dimarzio Model One and SG Pickups - YouTube

Really nice mods, and the tone is outstanding!!!

I was wondering about the room for extra pots.

The control cavity can be a problem. Epiphone has made at least two versions of the EB-0. Some have a very narrow control cavity space that won't accomodate any new pots (mine was like this, and I had to route out space for another pot). Others look like this, and have ample room for more pots:

I might win the award for the most heavily modified EB-0 type bass. I had an Epiphone EB-3 with a broken neck, so I carved out a neck pocket and instslled an active EMG MM humbucker. Despite the absolutely crappy picture, the bass actually does play pretty nice. It was a fun project anyway.

Really nice mod. This is the first time I've seen a bolt on replace an neck thru.
So what do you call it, a EB-ender????

Okay, I resurrected this old thread because the time has come!!! I got NIB Epiphone EB0 so cheap that I can splurge on parts a little. My luthier is charging $55 to install a pup and pots. I'm thinking of the allparts minibucker for $35 wired VTVT or wired VVT like a Jazz.

Anybody know where I can get a 3 way selector switch like on the EB3? Is this switch really necessary? I've never own an EB3.

My mod budget is about $130 so what say you TBers?

The only thing left original on mine is the body.

I wired this one like a Rickenbacker.

I wired this one like a jazz bass.

Ya know, I honestly thought about a squier mustang bridge also. I practice alot unplugged and I hate buzz with a passion. Mine is buzzing and twanging a little right now but it only has a factory setup. How is that mustang bridge compared to the stock?

I found a used Epiphone EB0 at GC about a month ago. It was $150.00 in nearly new condition and plays great. It is a 2016, not plywood and has a large control cavity with plenty of room to add a volume and tone control for a bridge pickup. I do not know how to operate the tools needed to route for a bridge pickup but a band mate from one of the bands I play in has a mill and said he would be happy to make a hole for a bridge pickup for me. I am not going to bother adding a switch. I will just wire the volume/tone controls for each pickup to work independent of each other. His mill is in his barn so we have to wait for it to warm up outside before he can make the hole for me.
