Modern Headless Basses - Which Strings Work and Which Don't?

There's some information on here about which strings work and don't work with modern headless basses (Hipshot, Riviera, Ibanez, etc. as opposed to double-ball end string systems) and I'd like to consolidate it here. Please provide which strings you tried, whether it worked or not, and I'll update the post accordingly.

Rounds (hex core) - Should work

Rounds (round core) - ???

Flats - Most likely doesn't work ???

Tapes - Most likely doesn't work

I've spoken to Pyramid, La Bella and D'Addario. All three are worried the strings won't hold -- the nylon would unwrap -- at the headpiece end since the silk holds the nylon together. Pyramid suggested crimping (bending at a 90 degree angle) past the silk and trimming. They sent me a single string to try it. Will do once I receive my headless in April.
