Modern sealed 4x10?

I've owned a single SVT-210AV, and it left a impression of mid-duty cab. It got very loud, but sound was mostly based on the mids. I know I shouldn't be comparing 2x10" to 4x10", but and I can't imagine two of them to be able to compete to 410HE. 410HE is just in another league.

I wouldn't describe the 210AV is a mid focused cab. As almost any sealed cab the bass is tighter, but not lacking IMO. If one is used to ported 15" speakers, it may appear lighter though.
 
While I'd genreally agree with you (and I noted that comparing 2x10 and 4x10 isn't fair), the 410HE delivers substantially more low end. I get that using two of 210AV would produce more low end, I doubt it would be anywhere close to the bigger cab.
 
Markbass Classic 104 Casa. Was part of their Michael League signature offering a few years ago. I have one and really like it. The tweeter can be turned down/off, which would probably be preferable for your tube amps.

The can is also light for a 410 and not too expensive. The Ampeg 410he also mentioned is good. The new Berg looks great, but won’t be cheap!
 
About Casa, I know it works for others, but it definitely didn't work for me - I've compared it vs 410HE and Markbass NY122, tried it on rehearsal and it's main strength is the mids, it's very clear. But if you want to fill the band with low end, that might not work. Also, mine had some weird resonance when playing low E.

I have played ported cabs most of my life, but now play sealed cabs (Hartke HL410) and I can't decide which one I prefer.
Even if I might slightly lean toward the ported cabs.
But sealed cabs are usually a bit lighter and less bulky.

While I haven't heard or played on one, I would think the new Bergantino 410 would be worth a listen.

The NV610 I did play on was spectacular as sealed cabs go...and all I mean by "as sealed cabs go" is that sealed and ported cabs have a very different feel and sound.
Sealed cabs have a more immediate and accurate/natural response in the low end due to the fact that everything is coming at you from the woofers in a time coherent wavefront and not being augmented by the port, which is reacting to the back wave of the woofer. The roll off rates are also different between the two designs which defines their group delays, the ported designs being higher. When done properly, there are excellent examples of both desIgns, but they do have different qualities.

That's exactly what I love about sealed cabs. The low end is tighter and more focused. They have this well defined thump and attack that I really like. Ported cabs tend to sound a bit muddy at higher volumes to me. It is a generalization, of course. There are some very good ported cabs and not so great sealed ones...

Typically for a given configuration, ported cabs do give a higher sensitivity due to the different design approaches and target T/S parameters of the respective woofers. Typically a woofer optimized for a ported cabs will have a higher sensitivity out of the gate, plus the added 3db of contribution from the port itself in the bass region. As you know, there are no free lunches!;-). One could argue quantity vs quality (ported vs sealed), although like I said there are great examples of both designs out there. But from a pure physics perspective, a sealed design gives a more accurate response from a time and phase perspective. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. It all comes down to the execution of the individual designs themselves. And we have had very successful designs using both approaches.

I think you’re referring to sensitivity which is typically a speaker’s rating at 1watt/1 meter. But this only tells a very small part of the story. A speaker can have a higher sensitivity out of the gate but run out of headroom quicker than a lower sensitivity speaker which has more linear excursion. Of course amount of available power plays into this equation too. If you don’t have the power to drive a lower sensitivity, higher output capability speaker to its full potential, it may be a moot point. A lot of variables to consider and one can’t just make a one size fits all blanket statement.
 
So i would like a sealed 410 for some variety. I had figured i wanted a 810 but i know it is overkill, and moving my gear up and down my basement stairs last night convinced me 4x10 would be better. 😅

Anything still being made? ideally i would like a 24 wide top as i like my tube amps (and lifting).
Just asking, why a sealed cab? One other thing to consider is a lot of the magic of that 810 cab is having those top speakers nearer to your ears, which will go away with a 410 or 210 cabs. JMO from experience.

I have seen a 410 cab where the speaker are stacked vertically as opposed to 2 sets of 210s stacked horizontally. Whether or not it’s a sealed cab, or will provide the same magic as your 810, I haven’t a clue.

In general, ported cabinets have a higher sensitivity, and have greater LF energy to the-3dB point, but this also assumes that this is part of the design intent.

The “looseness” of a ported cabinet is in some part due to the design choices that are made, because that’s actually what most players tend to prefer. This can be adjusted in the design, and can get somewhat close to a sealed cabinet if willing to trade off some LF extension.

Below -3dB, the ported cabinets rolloff steepens beyond a sealed cabinet. How this transition occurs depends on the Q of the filter analogy.

Neither type of cabinet is inherently “better” or “worse”, just different. It depends entirely on the preferences of the player.
