Modified Warwick Thumb BO 5 2001 or Warwick Thumb BO 2003

Good day Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope all of you going well,

I planning to buy bass. My choice is Warwick Thumb BO 5.

But i have 2 choices.

First one is Modified Warwick Thumb BO 5 2001.

- 3 band preamp
- Hipshot machine heads

Second one is Warwick Thumb BO 5 2003.

All parts are stock original.

Both basses are same finish.

Body: Ovangkol
Neck: Ovangkol
Fingerboard: Wenge
Finish: oil finish

Both bass comes with hardshell case.

Differences are just made year and few parts.

Both are good condition and price is very similar. Just a few bucks.

Please suggest me, should i buy which one ?

The Hipshot tuners are a nice upgrade. Do you know which 3-band preamp is in it?

At this point, it would really come down to how each of them feel and sound - one having a different preamp. The production years are close enough to each other than there shouldn’t be much difference between the two physically. Do you have access to play both?

Yeah, Hipshot Ultralites are a nice upgrade - ESPECIALLY on a bass that is notorious for being neck-heavy. Knocking 5 or 6 ounces off doesn't sound like much, but I assure you that when you take that weight off at the far end of the neck it makes a huge difference in balance and comfort.

i just checked with shipper. Three band preamp is original Warwick preamp. This means this Thumb BO have same preamp as Thumb NT.
