Modifying existing Pups?

Hey guys, I just picked up a used VM Jazz bass 5 string by Squier and I wanna make a small adjustment. First off, I want to make the bridge pickup have more growl and the neck have more warmth. How can I do this, do I just rewind them? If so, with what? Also, I kinda wanna take the covers off so they look like strat pickups. I actually have a 3d printer so I can fashion a partial cover if the need be. I'm new to extensively modifying things to this sort, but I have replaced a Pbass pickup and installed a S/P switch in it. Thanks, guys!

I can only think better pick up would get'what you want, maybe music man type an a splinter when you want a softer'jazz sound.

As you got your own printer you could easy make the pick guard for such a thing
