Modulus Guitars- Back in Business?!

Mike actually only has one walnut TBX (34" scale, 26 fret). The seldom played spare that you see on stage has a chechen top (34.5" scale, 24 fret). Here's Steve Lawson playing the chechen Q5 now owned by Mike:

That said, I don't disagree with his hoarding - If I had millions of dollars, I'd have a stable of TBXs too!

I actually saw this bass in person yesterday, it's very beautiful! It must have needed a factory setup ;)

just saw this on the Winter NAMM 2015 Exhibitor List :)

I've been trying to stay out of the bass realm lately because ever since Modulus went out of business it was far too depressing to think about bass related stuff. Every once in a while I would get bummed out after I would randomly think about how Modulus was out of business. Then today, I discover this. While I have not read through this entire thread yet but if Modulus is indeed back, this is the best news I've heard. Maybe now I won't have to worry about my Flea Bass as much. It was terrifying to think I could never get another new one. I did not think I could care so much about a single company. Now, I'm off to see how much these will retail for. I need to get a couple more Flea Basses (can't call them FU's).

You sure can get a new FB...but they seem to have changed their price to $4,800 now

More likely, the reason they went out of business is because their prices weren't covering their costs. We know that they had nice products that customers wanted. They just went broke. A very common thing in this business, believe me. The new owners have taken a better look at the numbers and are trying to be sensible.

Sensible numbers for incredible instruments.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but the person who makes ALL of the Modulus necks, is Jerry Dorsch. He originally co-founded Modulus with Geoff Gould. Jerry is very under-the-radar, as he doesn't advertise...basically a ghost builder. He responds incredibly slowly to emails, which I DO NOT recommend. If you want Modulus quality at a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay lower price, give him a call. Also, do a search on here for Graphite Guitar Systems, or GGS, and you can thank me later. ;-)

well, I couldn't find the Modulus booth at NAMM. Saw the post on them at booth #4283 and when I found it saw it was the Epifani booth. Asked there what was up with Modulus and they said 'they had one bass here yesterday but they aren't here today'. Quite the disappointment :( . But my 20+ yr old Q5 still is my main 5er and has outstayed all my others :)
