My 2007 Q6 Fretless and 1997 Q6. Always looking for more

An impressive pair of basses! I can't wait to see a pic of the 3 when you get your TBX6. I was checking out a Taylor acoustic guitar with a highly figured bookmatched Koa top yesterday and it looked amazing...then the setting sun hit it through the music shop window and it just popped! A Koa TBX6 will be a great addition to your collection.

Hey! I just realized the control cover on my Q5 isn't carbon fiber like you guyzez!

Post a pic. Is it a TBX? I am pretty sure that the control covers on the bolt on Quantums are carbon fiber, but they dont have the KLD layer on the surface. When you take off the cover, you can feel it in the weight and stiffness/glassy feel.

Depends what year it is, presumably. I have an '88 and the control cover definitely isn't carbon. Just a cheesey hunk of plastic.

I'll have to check later. It's a 93' bolt on, definitely no KLD layer. It looks way cooler with the KLD.

The control plate on my neck thru is metal.. Aluminum I would think.

My 96 Q5 doesn't have the kld layer either on the control cover. Bolt on neck.

I believe you mixed up Gwangi and me. He is the one getting the Koa TBX, lucky man. I agree on the Koa, his bass is going to be beautiful. I have some ideas for my Q6 TBX, but it will be awhile before I can afford that

Gig tonight (if I can make hit home from Miami - Boston - Hyannis by 9:30) & am planning on bringing my Q5. Sitting in airport, surfing TB, gotta love it.

What's the best way to clean and shine the fretboard on a standard composite neck? I've heard wd30? Any experiences/insight would be appreciated!

I believe the fretless is figured claro walnut. The fretted I've been told is also walnut.

There's no way I would use WD40. That stuff could easily penetrate and start dissolving the glues that hold the whole thing together. It's quite possible I'm wrong, but I would imagine that Modulus themselves would have the answer. They're not that hard to reach. Please let us know what you find out.

I actually found an old thread that backs up the wd40 but its from 2007 so I'm hoping someone on here has more recent experience. I just want it to look clean and shiny

Wow, who knew? Still, my 'board would have to get awful gunky before I'd go that route.

Yeah doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. I am just looking for something to shine the fretboard up

Have you thought about Novus #1 Plastic Polish? BTW - from what I've read there are two versions, one does have 1-2% silicone by weight and there is also another that is silicone free - just in case you were worried about it
