Well, I'm in. Here's my new (to me) Modulus: It's a 1989 Modulus Quantum SPX 5 that has been "slightly" modified. It started life with 2 Jazz bass pickups, and at some point they were replaced with 2 soap bars. At some point those were removed, the pickup cavity was expanded to the current bathtub cavity, and the current pickup was installed, a Bartolini deep tone dual coil in the sweet spot. The electronics are a 3 band Bartolini NTMB preamp. Also at some point the bass was sent to Martin Sims in England, who installed green LED side markers in the fingerboard. I'm still getting acquainted with it, but so far I dig it. It sounds great, and the neck feels fantastic. The shape is flatter than I expected, which I like. It's very close to the last 5 string I had so that should help the transition. It almost feels asymmetrical, but I don't think I've heard of Modulus making asymmetrical necks. The action is crazy low, this thing almost plays itself. I'll put a set of D'Addario XL's on it this evening, and I've got a couple gigs this weekend where I can give it a good tryout.
