Modulus Mob

Anyone interested in a FU4? I haven't been playing much the last few months, and might just take a break for a few more months/years/decades. It may appear on the classifieds soon.

Uuh she's pretty! I'd have some questions:

[EDIT: Just found it in the classifieds - down to one question]

- How old is she?
- Basslines PU and OBP-3?

- Would you ship to Germany (I know...)?
- How much money are we talking about?

I had 2 requests to ship overseas. With the case, the basses are just way too large and get put into like a 160 pound rate and become outrageous to ship. If anyone has suggestions other than not selling the bass with the case and removing the neck??

Sadly I don't. I actually sold a mod overseas once with the case and it was $550 to ship to England. I would only suggest removing the neck and not shipping the case. It will be too large for postal with the case. So FedEx and ups would be the only option. Only other idea would be to ship in a gig bag and that would lower the height and maybe make postal rates. Cause of what I remember 48 inches is the postal limit.

I have shipped basses internationally via USPS. They have a size limit that is oddly calculated as length + 2x width + 2x height. The total of those 3 values has to be 108" or less. The standard there's shipping carton is 52 x 18 x 7, which totals out to 102" calculated by USPS rules. USPS international is usually about half the cost of FedEx or UPS, but you don't get a tracking number and it takes twice as long. FWIW, I prefer to ship internationally by FedEx for those reasons

There's a Graphite Guitar Systems Sidewinder 6 for sale in the FB group "Bass Gear For Sale." Wish I had the $$$ to check it out.

Well, my only complaint with my new old Modulus was a little bit of neck dive. I ordered a set of GB350's to replace the Gotoh GB7's that were on the bass. I thought they'd be a little lighter, but I didn't expect them to be as light as they were! The GB7's (set of 5) weighed in at 318g (including nuts and washers). The new GB350's weighed 198g for a set of 5 with hardware. I can't say I noticed a gigantic difference, but it's definitely a little better. I'll have a better idea after I gig with it again this weekend.

First of two gigs yesterday. Funky, outdoor gig in a strip mall on Cape Cod (customer appreciation type thingy), my Q5 was perfect for the job. Had a great, full sound and she stayed perfectly in tune with high humidity and temps in the upper 80's. What a bass.

Was a guy named Steve on kit for this gig? Either I'm losing my mind or I saw photos of this... didn't know you were holding down the low end, nice choice on the bass.

Yeah, the thermometer in my car said 101 a few minutes ago. And my kid can't understand why I don't want to go on a 4 mile hike right now.

Back on topic, the GB350's definitely helped the neck dive. It's not 100% better, but it's a little more comfortable. Even with the tiny bit of neck dive this is still the most comfortable bass I've owned in a long time. It's lighter than my P-bass (late 1970's ash bodied Fender) by at least 4 lbs. I'm almost afraid to mention this so soon into the relationship, but this is also the first 35" scale bass I haven't had a problem adjusting to. I've actually sold a couple very nice basses because I couldn't get a handle on the scale length. Haven't had that issue here. Granted, it's only been a couple weeks, but here's hoping....

Pretty funny that the OP includes "$adow$ky" when Modulus is now approaching Fodera-level pricing.

You should try being in the UK, they carry a huge premium here because they have always been a private import deal. I don't think they have ever had a UK distributor, or if they did, certainly not one that carried stock.

The flipside of the coin is, Status Graphite basses carry the same premium in America, for the same reasons. I could weep for looking at Talkbass classifieds and seeing great deals on Quantums.

You are correct buddy, Steve Howard on the drums (had never met him until 20 minutes prior to playing the first song). Outdoor gig near the ocean in July, Modulus was the pick for that bad boy.
