Modulus Mob

I just got a '92 TBX 6 string and it's got the Kahler bridge on it. Long story short, I hate these bridges. They never adjust to exactly where I want them and now the saddle thingies are getting stripped, making adjustment difficult at best. Any ideas about a good replacement? I think it's going to be somewhat awkward because the mounting screws run at an angle to perpendicular to the strings.

Great tone, though!

Anyone have some pics of the cavity on a Bart equipped Q5? I’d like to have an idea of what I need it to look like if I swap Barts in for the EMGs. Thanks!
Yup! But unlike the emg modular connections I think I’ll have to solder the pickup leads to the bart preamp and I want to be sure I do it right, so I’d love to see a Barts cavity setup.

Is a pic of a Q6 of any use? I still have the excellent pictures Fred312B took before he sold me his Q6.

Also, according to the aforementioned Fred312B, my Q6 has "- Bartolini soap bars (EMG 45 sized) with Bartolini 3 band eq 18v"

I don't know if that means I have info you might find useful, but if I do, please let me know.

Thanks again, Fred. Certainly sounds sweet and clear and different from the EMGs. I just might have to give it a try. Might be nice if I could find a used set — Anyone got some Barts they pulled out of their Q5? Thanks!
Mark
I actually was going to post mine for sale, just been lazy about doing it. But with the polar vortex today, I suppose I have no excuses. I’ll pm you so as to keep our affairs private :D

First off: Holy crap that is a hawt looking bass! Nice find!

Secondly: I’ve had one of those Kahlers on my Modulus 6-string since 1988 and *never* had any issues with it...nor, frankly, any need to adjust it in those 31 years. What exactly doesn’t it do for you?

Replaced mine with a Hipshot. Works great.

Big fan of the ABM bridges that Modulus tends to use. I would go for that, personally.

I don't like the fact that the witness point isn't all that sharp and I would like to have a finer range of adjustment in the height. Also, the materials which are used in the bridges aren't that great. The threads seem to get munged up pretty easily.

I'm going to leave it as is for now while I figure out if this bass and I are going to get along. It sounds very nice, but I'm so used to the Starfire that it's a pretty big adjustment. Also, there had been heavy strings on it, so there's some forward bow. It's not terrible, but I'm hoping that with lighter strings, it will even out, making it easier to play. My hands ain't what they used to be!

if anyone in the modulus mob wants this you can have a better deal!

For Sale - Modulus Quantum 5
I'm a sucker for all the natural tops. That's a cool one! It seemed like when I was in the market it was a lot easier to find a 6er with a look I wanted than a 5.

You look like a guy with a Discogs account, what's your username? ;)

I looked at Drewphishes bass for sale and I also have a 1990 Q6, and what I don't get is why do the TBX and other neck through Moduluses seem to have the pickups much closer to the bridge and the bolt ons generally have the pickups where I think they should be, closer to the neck? After all, we're bass players, so we need some bass!
