Quick question for you all. I have an 04 Q 6 with a Chechen board and the last couple set ups two different techs have called me frantic, (mind you I told them ahead of time middle position on truss rod feels loose and will only turn half way to either side and this was normal and part of the design) However the last two said they understood that but the issue was they couldn't quite get the neck completely flat, that there was some relief but not as straight as my othe
basses (non Modulus). The bass is set up perfectly for me and I like stupid low action. There is a little fret out buzz around the 15th fret and higher but it doesn't bother me. Have you heard of your Quantum necks (With) adjusting bar never getting completely Straight? Again I don't mind a little relief I just didn't know if this is a trend and it gets worse over time. It may have been like this the last 15 years and no one told me for all I know or the not straightening thing just started....I don't know.
Nice blue q6 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Moreover the Techs said they couldn't turn the adjusting bar any further. So it's maxed out and not straight, it's close but not perfectly straight.
was it this one?So I just snagged a ‘97 red quilted maple Q5, it has true 19mm spacing. Was that much of a rarity back in the day?
It also has EMG’s and. McClish retrofitted preamp which I don’t gave a clue about lol, pics once it arrives.....
was it this one?
For Sale - 1997 Modulus Quantum 5 - Red Quilted Maple
not too sure about 19mm spacing at the bridge. that would mean a 3" width at the 24th fret. iirc, the only bridge spacing options for q5's at that time was the 'normal' 17mm (2 3/4" width at the 24th fret) and the occasional 'wide q5' (five string quantum on a six-string neck / 21.5mm).

tbx-5's were 2 7/8" at the 24th fret (17.5mm).
i could also be completely off-base and wrong. maybe there were 'special' molds back in the day that modulus would use for an occasional neck that had either a 3" or 3 1/8" width at the 24th fret for a 'true' 19mm spacing at the bridge. maybe geoff can chime in here.
then again around that time, modulus and peavey were making the b-quad 5 which does have a 3" width at the 24th fret. so possibilities are possible.
I doubt Modulus made any new molds after 1995, but before, there was only the regular Q5Spi neck (2.75" @ 24th fret, which was about 17mm spacing) and making a 5 on the Q6SPi mold (3.25" @ 24th fret). I would certainly be curious if there was anything in between.
How much information is usually available with the serial number because it actually looks like it’s a ‘95 - 951765
Should arrive today BTW.

Mid to late 2000s there was a 19mm Q5 available that was in between, measured 3.00" at the 24th fret. Hardly ever see them come up for sale, though.I doubt Modulus made any new molds after 1995, but before, there was only the regular Q5Spi neck (2.75" @ 24th fret, which was about 17mm spacing) and making a 5 on the Q6SPi mold (3.25" @ 24th fret).
