If it’s freewheeling, it’s broken. These are dual action truss rods, the nut is supposed to be welded on. You’d have to do major surgery on the neck to replace the rod.

I think you can buy a brand new Modulus TBX for slightly less than what the person on REVERB is selling it for you'll just have to wait it out on the build time but in the end it'll be worth it and you'll have a warranty.

yeah, i believe the base price for a tbx5 is around $7.5k and goes up from there depending on what goodies you add.
the seller obviously "ordered the store" when adding options. that top just kills me.
i'm just a little stunned that after a 3-year wait, the bass is on reverb. wonder if something on the bass didn't jibe with the player; like the 34" scale or the 17mm spacing...
Good question. 3 years is quite a while to wait. Could be there were a lot of hiccups and sour feelings or just didn’t meet expectations. All speculation, of course. Which is worthless. Why am I typing this?

if i'm ordering a tbx5 and waiting that long, i'd at least make sure to have the build look like something not really seen in the wild so it'd be as much a unicorn as possible. maybe also have a gumball dispenser next to the output jack...
