How much was it?

Without disclosing the actual price, I got it for what seems to be right in the middle of where the market seems to be right now (high). So somewhere between $3,500 and mid-$4k. ;-)

BTW, it just arrived yesterday and I must say, it's dead mint. Appears to have almost no play time on it. It's an exceptional player and the tone from the LP pup (and Aggy pre) is stellar!

Honestly the high prices for used Modulus instruments is INSANE!!!! You are better off buying brand new Modulus and you'll get a warranty.

I need a bit of advice with regards to the relief adjustment system. I recently tried to tighten the truss rod (turn clockwise from looking at the bridge) and it felt completely loose, there was no resistance to movement at all. Is this normal?
I gave it almost 3 quarter turns and still felt no resistance. I also didn't notice a change in the relief of the neck. I measure before adjusting and a few hours later to check.

You’re most likely in the center range of the truss rod where it isn’t engaged with the neck. Keep turning and you’ll start to feel resistance.

Yeah, at this point it doesn’t seem like he’s interested in taking it back to investigate and has basically told me it’s my problem. Also has repeatedly told me he’s never had any problems with Lane Poor pickups. OK… but I do have a problem.

Just wanted to update that Tony took the pickups and checked them out thoroughly. He was gracious about it and I appreciate his service. Turns out the pickups are likely fine and my environment is just a bit noisy. The LPs also aren’t quite as good as other humbuckers at rejecting the noise.

You’re most likely in the center range of the truss rod where it isn’t engaged with the neck. Keep turning and you’ll start to feel resistance.

Probably around 1 full turn. If it’s freewheeling, no harm in trying to tirn it more, the damage was already done.

The first time you hit the “dead zone” it is a bit unnerving, but once you get thru it, the truss rod will feel the same as any other one.

Here’s a link to the Quantum manual, it does mention the dead spot, but not how many turns to get through it. I haven’t adjusted the neck in a while, so I don’t remember exactly how many, fortunately it doesn’t move much (it at all) so you shouldn’t have to do it much, unless you’re going to a drastically different string tension.

I had that problem in the 90s with LP pickups.

I own a dual humbucker with EMGs and I own a PJ with EMGxs. The EMGXs have much more high end information in them. It's unbelievable how much more. The X ones basically have extended range into the lows and highs and convey more information in those areas.

It's been awhile since I've had the regular 40DC's, I was replacing Bartolini stuff in this bass, so I went DCX (and 3 band BQC electronics). They do sound good, EMG stuff is very clear and accurate, so I have no complaints, but as to changing out existing EMG stuff, I can't give an honest answer. I had a Q5 before with 40DC's (and the 2 band EMG eq) and never had any complaints with the sound.
