my emg setups use 25k. i believe 25k is the one to use for active pickups.

I guess I could add a buffer preamp to the pickup, bring down the impedance.

I would use a 25k volume pot if the volume pot is post preamp, which i would prefer because it would also reduce the self-noise of the preamp as it get turned down. In my view, it's better if the preamp sees the full volume of the pickup at all times.

Hello all, I have a 1989 Modulus Quantum 5 and I would like to put the correct tuners on. Does anyone know if they would be the GB70's or the Res-O-Lite that are on the Modulus website, or were they using other tuners back then?

They were using GB7, not to be confused with the newer style GB707. GB350 (resOlite) i dont believe were around then.

Personally i would go with GB707 or GB350, although GB7 tuners are extremely common.

That shop actually seems to have several GGS basses, as well as a few with Status, Modulus, and Moses necks...

Cliff, thanks also for the info. I have Schalers on there now which aren't the originals. I will most likely switch to Res-o-lites. What pickups are in your 88? I have EMG's in my serial number 8900700. Don't know if they were stock? I bought it used in '90.

Id did not have the original emgs in it anymore when I got it. So I put new Emgs in it. Sounds killer

Yes indeed. Can I see your '88? Relief is too much for my taste so may try some lighter gauge strings on this one but still very playable and sounds monstrous.
