Modulus Mob

Recently, I've found that my lovely Modulus Quantum 5 (pre truss rod version) has developed a front bow on the neck. Action is too much high for my taste now. Is there any way to fix it? Does Jerry Dorsch still repair Modulus necks?

The fingerboard shrunk causing the neck to bow. Jerry Dorsch would be the guy to talk to, somebody on here has his contact info.

Granted, my sampling represents 100% of the Quantum 5 population in my basement, which I find to be statistically significant to me.

Oh, sure, I get it. Empiricism is a powerful influencer of insight. But for me, the two pre-truss Quantum 6 basses that I own(ed ...just sold one recently) both needed to be repaired due to neck warpage. 100% of the Modulus basses I've owned had neck problems! Talk about statistically significant!

Which is why I'd love to know what percentage of pre-truss Modulus basses total suffered from this issue. 100% of yours didn't, 100% of mine did...but meanwhile Modulus made how many hundreds of instruments between 1977 and 1998? How many out of all of them warped?

I've had it happened to 4 pre-truss rod Quantums and 3 Quantums with a truss rod, I was told the phenolic will sometimes dry out and shrink causing the neck to bow.
Wow, that’s really bad. I have one Q5 and one Funk 4 that bowed. They were built around the same time, probably same batch of fingerboards. Both have truss rods. The Q5 needed a replane but the Funk is just barely hanging on with the truss as tight as I am willing to go. My older Funk 5 (2006) is doing just fine. Rock solid.
