Modulus not Flea anymore

FLea does endorse strings but he's said him self he doesn't know what kind he uses. I liked the wal on BSSM although he did use his EB 5'er on there some. He also used an Alembic I think EPIC for one hot minute I thought he had a good rock thing going there (he said he used his EB in Aeroplane) after he got the flea bass though man he had the brightest crap tone I'd ever heard it fits sometimes with the band but by it's self WHEW!!!

Hmm he has been using GHS for almost forever

I went to one of the three local Guitar Centers, the one I usually don't go to in Rockville, MD. While I was there I asked about Flea basses and they said that they were on blow out clearance and they were all gone. They checked the computer and there are a few more out there in various Guitar Centers. But I asked about 4 string Flea basses. There was a 5 string right next to the computer terminal. It was tagged at the normal price, but the sales guy scanned it and it turned out to be on clearance also. A two minute audition later, it was mine -- for a steal of a price. No case, but that's ok.

Anyways, if you're in the market for a Flea bass, check GC and have them do a search if they don't have any in stock.

Killer bass, BTW.

Who the hell cares...

I never really cared much for flea's playing, other than a few songs, and I'm not really a fan of RHCP outside of their more mainstream songs (I just can't get into their other stuff)

its still the sickest bass around. thats why i own multiples.

After Chad Smith got something like $100,000 to do a signature snare drum, Flea demanded a deal like that from Musicman/Ernie Ball. They declined since the Stingray was such a signature instrument for so many players. He went to Modulus to do that bass and probably got money. Now he is probably moving on for money as well. It's a shame. His best playing was done on a Stingray and that is the tone for him. Listen to "Johnny Kick A Hole in the Sky" and that's the tone right there.

Flea played a spector on that whole album, it kicks bass butt, I think its one of his best sounds too.

Here is the deal, No one wants to buy a flea anymore. Who knows if flea dropped it or Mod just got sick of paying him for a bass that was rad without his name one it. I love Mods currently I have two TBX one 1994 6 custom and a pre 1990 5 fretless which was one of a hand full made and one on the way. Who cares what they call it....... how does it play
