Mono Vertigo Ultra - Anyone else using one?

Can anyone comment on the "shell" of the Ultra vs the original? Iv tried watching as many Utube vids as I can, and it hardly gets a mention. Is the Ultra significantly tougher ? Or only slightly more impervious to face, underside, protection? I play in a 3 piece, and no longer live in a capital city. We have our own production, and often , have to travel up to 1 .5 hrs , on bad " country roads". Our transport is a double cabin Ute ( similar to a US Ford F100) with a trailer . Instruments are allways "on top", but all itemes can be bumped around. I realise the Vertigo ultra is NOT a flight case, but I'm hoping the V ultra will give more impact pro than the original.

The material itself seems tougher. I have not seen the Reunion Blues case in person, but it could be more case-like from vids and reviews here on TB. However, the ultra does have a good amount of well-placed exoskeleton pieces and the extra large neck brace that stiffens up the neck area quite a bit.
This helped me take a leap for the ultra. The vid shows her hitting the sides of the Ultra. Although, my experience wasn't as hard as this vid makes it seem when I hit the sides with the bass out of it.

If you are worried about your bass bouncing in a trailer, you might want to go Reunion blues. Seems people with both the Mono and RB will choose the RB to fly with or for sketchier use. I was leaning this way too but will only be using this in my own vehicle, driving to urban settings.

Someone with more experience with both please chime in. I have only had mine for a week.

Do you attach it to the case? I found the Tick pretty useless if you have anything more than a few cables in it because it makes the case balance really weird when attached. I still use it to transport my micro amp, cables, etc. but never attach it if I'm going to be walking a few blocks.
I do. Mine is packed pretty full and while I agree about the weight distribution, the utility certainly wins out for me. I think the fact that I use the double case with two basses most of the time helps to redistribute it a bit better.

OK, I can get either a vertigo ultra or a RB continental for the same price of $400 aud ($268 USD) . Are the US prices similar, down here *Australia *, the RB continental seems to be the more expensive, by about $100aud ($67 US). I'm still learning towards the Ultra over RB, just interested.
With my discount the price was about that. $268 for either.

I bought a new Reunion Blues bag and the strap ripped right off within a handful of uses. Don’t recommend. Mono is great - but I think for the price, I prefer roadrunner bags and cases.

Love my Mono Vertigo bags. I don't think the wheels are worth it. They don't seem that useful. I almost always use backpack mode or the handle. The bags are very light. If I don't cram the pocket full of stuff, I barely tell if my bass is inside or not. Also, snow. I think those little wheels wouldn't do well in our winter weather.

I've been using two Mono gig bags for years now- without the wheels. They are by far the best gig bags I've used, and are what I take with me to every gig. They are built to last, and protect your basses. Highly recommended!
Same experience except, the only bag IMHO that was better was the long discontinued InCase instrument bags. I still have an Incase bass double and a guitar bag. I wish I got the single when it was available.. But Sa la vie... I love and use Mono bags but I'm an M80 guy. Though I obtained 1 vertigo with a bass, I just couldn't warm up to the angled front zipper pocket to travel or use on gigs. I use it for transport of guitar or bass for repairs, and to lessons only. This is the 1st I even heard of the "vertigo ultra". I do use the tick in town..

Received the Ultra this arvo. First impressions, it oozes quality. I love the top loading feature, (never used one before)
I got a good price (for down under) $50aud more than standard Vertigo. I went with Ultra mainly for improved protection, hidden straps, and shower proof zippers *although, time will tell how zippers hold up , over years... Iv put wheels away, I won't use them in foreseeable future. Overall, my mind is now at ease, my new Sandberg Nighthawk Plus can be safely transported to gigs , bad country back roads , and all..
